Deluxe DDP Stategy & Limitations

I do not think it is a great value to change QS credits to snacks because the places where you can do this do not have $5-6 snacks. They have $3-4 snacks, like fries and drinks and maybe a soup or like the boardwalk bakery where most items are more around $4 each, giving you about $12 per QS credit which is on the low side for maximizing value. You can't go up to a food and wine booth and buy 3 items for a QS credit and you can't go to like the funnel cake place at HS where you can get the funnel cake sundae for $8 and buy 3 of those to split among your party for a QS. It's really only at places where you can already buy a QS meal and they have a few snack options as well. That may change later but for now that seems how it is.

We did this 3 times last October - it is doable. Secondary to booking a tour that included lunch we (3 adults) had 3 QS credits extra. We used each one for 3 items at a time at the F & W booths and used them all up. Since they would have gone to waste, it was a smart use of these QS credits

good to know! I thought that option was only available at places that had both QS and snack options. Though it is probably still not the best use of a QS and limits how you can use them (have to use 3 at one booth).

It was a good use of credits for us. As I stated, we were a party of 3 adults. So 3 items at one booth was exactly what we wanted. And they were going to go to waste otherwise. Definitely not for everyone, but perfect for us on this trip.

And there are some snack items at the F&W that run in the $5-7 range, so three of them do get you the QS credit value.

Exactly. I was thinking we'd use snack credits and any unused QS credits during F&W. Trust me, we'll probably go through them all with the group we have as my sons are all big eaters.

Regardless of the DDP, we'd order what we want. I agree that the restaurants in WDW are not all on par with ones we have out here in LA, but we've had some really good experiences at places like Jiko, Flying Fish and California Grill. My sons are also not the sharing type, so splitting apps and dessert would happen maybe only a couple of times per trip.

We (DH & adult DS& I) have never done DxDDP, but we usually do do basic DDP & TiW together. Like you, we order what appeals to us at that moment. We will order appetizers and we too enjoy an adult beverage, in moderation, with dinner. We never focus on "maximizing the value" of the plan, but rather enjoying our vacation
