We will be on the deluxe plan but would like to eat at a couple of CS restaurants.
1) can we use our deluxe credit at a TS (I know this is a bad value for the credit, but we don't want to waste the time and stomach space in a sit down)?
2) is it a straight conversion 1 Deluxe = 1 CS meal?

Thank you

I'm not sure if you are clear on the terminology...

A TS credit is one of the BEST uses of a deluxe credit. To MAX the DxDDP, eat 3 TS credit meals a day.

A CS credit is generally NOT the best use of deluxe, but it will depend on which CS you eat at.

A Signature TS will help you get through your credits, but if you were actually to do the calculations, I don't think the signature meals are all double the cost of regular TS meals, so they don't result in the biggest bang for the buck EXCEPT that the quality of the meal CAN (not always) be outstanding compared to some TS meals.

No worries!

We did the DxDDP plan last June. I didn't allow enough CS options. I would definitely say to eat some. We love Wolfgang Puck Express and it is an EXCELLENT use of a CS credit. We love DTD and will eat there every time.

And yes, one deluxe "entitlement" they call it translates to one CS meal.

We did Deluxe last year and it felt like all we were doing was eating, just trying to throw some quicker/smaller meals in to break up the meals

On the Deluxe plan there are not TS or CS credits, just meal credits. Those credits can be used at either TS or CS/QS places.

The best use of your meal credits is to eat what you want when you want. Don't eat to maximize savings or food for the money. It won't be much fun to eat those 2-3 TS meals with appetizers daily if you're too full to enjoy the rest of your day. If it suits your touring/vacation style to have some CS meals, go for it. No matter how much or little you eat the money is spent, but the memories you create on vacation for last for years to come. One of the perks of the dining plan is not having to worry about menu prices, I certainly don't usually do that when I eat out.

On the Deluxe plan you have a refillable drink mug to manage thirst at the resort and two snack credits each nite, you'll have plenty of food even if you choose some QS meals to keep things light at some point (light for food and for time).

Here is a sample Adult TS/QS day on the Deluxe:
Boma Breakfast $18.99
Casey's Hotdog Lunch $8.68
Coral Reef Dinner $45.46

$77.88 if you add tax to those meals, so even w/o doing all TS or including your two snacks or what you'd save by refilling your mug, the Deluxe plan is a value. You can find less expensive TS breakfast options or more expensive QS lunch options, bottom line you can have value eating QS on the Deluxe plan.

We found that eating a late buffet breakfast and an early dinner at a 2TS restaurant worked very well for us on the DxDP. We didn't try to maximize value - just ordered whatever we wanted. I didn't feel like it was too much food or too much time spent in restaurants. (Usually we wouldn't eat that many meals out, but we were in a moderate instead of a DVC villa with a kitchen.) It also worked well for us because we don't really eat QS meals.

We'll need to re-run the numbers if and when OOP menu prices get updated, but traditionally, the rule of thumb is that DxDP is cost effective if you use at least 2/3 of your meal credits for TS. Meaning you could do 2 TS, 1 CS per day and still do fine for the value.

I relate to this...this is the way the DxDDP felt to us also...

This is what we did too. I got so sick of always having to eat at a different resort every night. We only had one night where we picked a 1TS place for dinner in a park. For our signatures, we always wanted to shower and change for dinner. It got old and started to feel like a big break up in the flow of the day. Not saying to avoid all signatures, but every night for a week didn't work for us.
