I have been doing a bit of research for a trip to Florida sometime in the next few months, but living in California, my wife thinks buying season passes to Disneyland would be better for us. Some family members are heading down this weekend, and she'd like to tag along. Problem is, this weekend is blacked out for Deluxe Pass use. I know that if I buy the passes at the gate on a blackout day, I can get in that day. But, both Saturday and Sunday are blacked out due to the holiday, and we'd like to go both days. My question is this: Can I buy 2 day park hopper passes for the weekend, and then upgrade them to Deluxe Annual Passes on the second day?

Yes, you can upgrade the 2-day hopper on the 2nd day, even though it is a block out day.

Just be sure to do the math for the difference between the deluxe and premium, and how many blocked out days you might want to go. Including the fact that Premium includes parking into your math.

Note: I only have Deluxe, but I'm in WA and it's harder to jet down on a whim. If I lived in CA I would almost certainly have a Premium. :)

Hi - We were just in DL in August. I bought an AP for myself from the start to get the AP7 rate at the hotel. I bought the Premium for the extra discounts and because we'd be there over a blockout day. I estimated that the extra discounts and the blockout would bring the cost of the premium about even with the deluxe. And, I was right. So, I'll be ahead on our next trip with the extra discounts.

For my kids, I just bought park hoppers. The last day we were there was a blockout day. So, they entered the park on the hopper and then we went and upgraded them to an AP. They took the hoppers and gave us their APs along with a "Blockout Day Exception" voucher. The voucher had their name, pass number and date. We just had to show the AP and the voucher for re-admission to the parks that day.

I know I was a bit nervous about doing the upgrade on a blockout day but it works perfectly.
