My family will be staying @ a delux. My parents brother are trying to put together a last min. trip and stay at either a value or moderate.

My father us not able to walk much d/t health problems and not willing to talk or use a w/c. Needless to say we want him there. He is very interested in hanging around the pool and reading.

My question Can my father use the pool at our resort and rest in our room if needed. He will have is own room @ the vaule resort. It seems it would be a lot better for meeting up if to eat and spend non "park time together".

Has any one ever had a situation simular to this?

Hi!
He will be able to visit you, rest in your room and use the common areas. He will not, however, have use of the pool. It is restricted to resort guest only. Disney no longer allows "pool hopping".

That said, however, due to your "special circumstances", if the pool area is not busy during your visit, I would ask for special permission, either the front desk or lifeguard.

Hope you have a wonderful vacation!

I think that you could add him as a guest at your room for $16/day (Disney allows up to 2 adults before you have to pay an extra fee). Even though he would be staying at another hotel, he would officially be a guest-- and have the coveted room key needed to use the pool at your resort.

I don't see why he would not be able to use the pool. I mean yes techincally he is not a guest at that resort...but I have never once been asked to prove that I am staying at that resort to use the pool.

They have become much more strict about this policy. At the BC/YC pool, not even DVC members staying at other resorts can go there anymore (or to the AKL pool). They give you a wristband to identify you as a guest.

My understanding is that they have also started doing this at WL pool because of all of the people from MK and the campgrounds who come over to use the pool.

Some of the pools are less strict, mostly the moderates and value resorts. I guess they don't want a whole bunch of people going to the "nicer" pools if they have not paid for it.

(When are you going in May, Ames? We will be there for my daughter's 4th BD 5/7-5/14-- WL)

A while back (4 years or so) I was staying at the AS-Sports. My sister lives an hour from the parks so her and her children came to meet us and we went to the parks together. When we returned from the parks, we went swimming. We asked the life-guard if it was ok for my niece's to go in the pool and they told me it was ok. We were guests at that resort & they were visiting us for the day. We weren't "pool hopping" and you will not be "pool hopping". You will be a guest at that resort. When you get there, ask a life-guard. If they are very crowded they may say no, but if not...they may just allow it. Like I said, this was a while back....things may have changed.
