Delux resort discounts

Does anyone know if delux resorts are offered at a ddiscount at any special time of the year? Someone told me they are offered at 50% off certain time of the year and I was curious to know if that is true.

Well all resorts are discounted during value season. Occasionally 20, 30, or 40% off codes are offered as a pin code for certain dates (never heard of a 50% one). You have to personally receive the code in snail mail or email to use it. There is no KNOWN way to "get on a list" to receive discount codes. If you have purchased anything from Disney or booked a trip through them, you should be on their mailing list. AAA also offers a 15-20% discount on resorts throughout the year.

The only 50% off we ever received was back in 2007 with the airline employee discount. They stopped that in 2008, it became 40% off. Still a great deal and the only way we could ever afford to stay deluxe. We use that discount and pay for our own food. Like the pp said, you have to just get lucky to receive a pin otherwise.

Does having a Disney Visa card increase your chances of receiving offers of pin codes that much? I would like to take a 2nd family trip to WDW next year, and would love to stay at WL or AKL. However, we would have to go during regular season and could probably only afford to stay at one of those resorts if we lucked into a discount of at least 30%.
