Delta's 5 fare classes

I think it is so frustrating when people use kids to play the entitlement card. I'm sorry having kids doesn't entitle you to get an upgraded seat for free when somebody originally paid more for that seat. It is like SW and people not buying EBCI and expecting people to move so they can sit with their young kids because AN AIRLINE WILL NEVER SEPARATE A FAMILY. Or those trying to take the entire extended family or kids well over the 5 and under age on family boarding. Or not paying for a seat on legacy airline and expecting people to move. It is clear from the post that you agree you are getting a cut rate no frills ticket and you will be stuck in the unwanted, undesirable airline seat (in the back near the bathroom).

Kids aren't an excuse for expecting things for free or expecting others to move who paid for their seats. YOU CAN BE SEPARATED FROM YOUR KIDS AND NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR IT. IF YOU NEED TO SIT BY THEM PAY FOR THE SEATS TOGETHER. I am not moving nor is my family if we paid extra for EBCI or on a legacy flight an assigned seat. I don't care that my kids are 19 and 20, but we sit together and will not move from our seats. Harsh yes, but after seeing over and over on these boards people crying and whining that people won't move it is frustrating. Kids are a blessing and important, if it is important for you to sit with your young children DON'T CUT COSTS ON PLANE TICKETS.

How many times should I state, I did not do this on purpose? I only wondered if anyone else did this and how they handled it.
I am not expecting anything for free. I am not even expecting anyone to move for me if they do not wish to.
I wish lived in a perfect world where I never made a mistake. I would lay down my life for my family. At this point there is nothing else I can do about it, it is what it is.
Everyone else, thank you for the advice. I'll be sure to check the pocket of their seats to make sure nothing is there to hurt them, and tell them to call out for any help if it is necessary. And stay in their seats until we come for them.

Kids will occasionally be separated from "their" adults on planes. It happens and people survive -- especially the kids. On flights to Orlando especially. On our Delta flight from DTW to Orlando in August, a four year old girl (Lana) was seated next to me. She was in the middle between me (on the aisle) and another lady. The mom had two other children with her and was a few rows ahead of us. Switching seats wouldn't have done her any good, because she was outnumbered by her . Lana's mom had prepared her for this possibility. She had her little backpack with toys, book, etc. She was a delightful seat companion. I'm not sure how old grandmomhop's grandchildren are, but a little preparation goes a long way. My daughter has preferred an aisle seat -- like her dad and I -- since she was about 9. We've been all over the plane so we could get aisle seats for all. (DD was on this trip with me, too, and she was in a different row with an aisle seat.)
