Delta vs. Jet Blue

Okay, so I've never flown with Delta before. We usually fly Southwest (love their customer service) or Jet Blue (love the snacks and tv's).

Delta appears to have the cheapest non-stop flights for our March trip. I am hesitant in purchasing them since with Jet Blue and Southwest, I am always eligible to get a lower price if the price in my flight drops. (They rebate me in form of a travel voucher.)

I cannot find any older threads pertaining to this issue. Can anyone tell me if Delta will do this (without a fee)?

Delta does not do it without a change fee ($150).

I believe delta also charges for checked luggage. Did you remember to incorporate that into the price?

$25 for the first bag ($23 if online), $35 for the second ($32 online)

Bummer.... Oh well. I still feel okay with the price we paid. Just watch, Southwest will extend their $59 sale into March and I will dread trying out Delta!


I did add the baggage fee into the price when I did comparison shopping. We would have paid the same with Jet Blue and not gotten direct flights nor the time we liked.

I'd suggest that you watch your reservation over time. Delta, like most legacy airlines, has a tendency to adjust flights - change flight times, change equipment, eliminate flights, change from non-stop, etc. - and that can affect your plans. JetBlue will also make flight time changes but, in my experience, those tend to be in terms of a few minutes on way or the other.

I always feel more confident that I'll get what I purchased when I fly JetBlue than when I fly Delta.

I strongly SECOND this! Besides checking your flight times, make sure you check your seat assignments, too! Delta has been known to change these, too, not just flight times.
Because of some poor experiences, I try to avoid this airline if at all possible.

I've honestly not had a problem with Delta - I've flown Delta since 2006 (when I started flying) and I've only missed one flight and that was because I had an asthma attack due to a lady with WAY too much perfume on in front of me.

As for flight changes and seat switches, I've (knock on wood) never had that happen.

But to each his own! Enjoy your trip, regardless of who you fly!
