Delta v Virgin help needed

i am after some advice we are trying to book a flight only for october this year virgin are coming up at approx £1500.00 for 2xadults but delta are coming up at just under £900.00 for 2xadults. it would be a big saving to go with delta but we would need to change at atlanta. has anyone gone with delta and what was it like having to change or would you pay the extra and go with virgin. We usually fly with virgin but were thinking of trying to save some money.

would go with delta ans save mony,have always looked at first day all traveling anyway,a conection only ads a few hours on and you save money

We were going to use Delta for our upcoming holiday but the reviews I found really put me off, and friends in the US told me they have a bit of a reputation for delays! I'm sure many people use them and their flights go smoothly but I didn't want to take a chance for such a long distance. I'm not sure i'd pay that much extra to go with Virgin, have you checked the charters like TCD?
