Delta Through Hotwire/ Seat Assignment?

I purchased Delta tickets last year and enjoyed being able to pick my seats online.

I just purchased tickets for this trip through Hotwire, and was happy to see it was a 'straight shot' to FL with Delta again.

Hotwire doesn't allow pre-flight seat assignment, and I'm worried my family will be split up. That would terrify DD6! We plan on checking in at least 2 hours before the flight, but I'm worried all the seating together will already have been spoken for (via internet selection).

Anyone have experience with this or can offer a word of comfort?

I looked today and so far none of the seats on our flights have been reserved. We're flying Thanksgiving Day.

Many airlines do not assign seats until 90 days before departure. Try calling Delta and asking for your seats after the 90 day mark has passed.

If Delta won't assign you seats then (and it is possible that they only assign Hotwire/Priceline seats at the airport), try not to worry. Your plan to get to the airport early is a good one. You might also try printing your boarding passes at home (if Delta has that feature) as soon as the window for that opens. You can often change/select seats online at that time.

If all that fails, you'll probably still be OK. Many passengers will trade to allow one parent to sit with a young child. (I don't think it will come to that, as Delta knows you are all together and will try to assign you together from the start. Remember, you got a good deal via Hotwire because Delta doesn't think it will be able to sell all of the seats on your flights the "usual" way).

After spending literally one hour on Delta's website, I found a way to choose my seats. What a relief!

BTW...my good deal was $138 to Delta's $196 X3...that's $174 difference! And it's a nonstop flight. Made me very happy.
