Don't know if anyone has any interest in this info at all, but I thought I would give a heads up in case anyone has had the problems I had with this flight. This is one of those Song flights that the time has been changed over and over (booked at 5:00PM - now 8:59pm) and in the process I had lost my seats and no amount of begging was going to get them back. I just got, "You have to get your seats at the gate and if there are no seats left, you go on stand-by". Being Easter Week and the last flight out of the day, even arriving 3 hrs in advance, I did not have a warm & fuzzy feeling about being able to get out of MCO that night.

Anywho, checking flights today found a 5pm MCO-BOS non-stop flight practically empty (for $98, no less) and was able to get my return flight changed. At first they wanted to charge me the $50/pp, but since the flight time had changed over two hours then when I originally booked it, I politely reminding them (she certainly wasn't volunteering the info) that I should not be charged. "No problem ma'am"

Like I said, i don't know if this info helps anyone flying that weekend and getting the runaround as far as not geting your seats back but I wanted to post it since it has saved me alot of anxiety today.

Hi Mary Ann....wow, that certainly wouldn't have made me a happy camper. Glad you could get a flight that suits you better. This is the one problem I have with Delta. I realize that since they release their flights so early (331 days out) that there will be changes. But, it's Feb and you would think that they would know what's going on in April...especially since it's such a busy time of year for flying. Thanks for the heads up.

Did you speak to at least one supervisor to get your seats back? The first person you talk to on the phone usually has very few degrees of freedom on what he can give you.

If Delta still does things the same way as last year, they will be offering $400. travel vouchers to persons volunteering to get off a full flight. Almost all of the time there are more volunteers than they need.

Yea Diane, this flight has been changed about 6 times since I booked it. In fact, this is the same flight number they bumped us on back in Dec. I don't mind the flight time changes, but the no seat thing just made me crazy.

SeashoreCM, I tryed and tryed to get our seats assigned back. One night I went through 2 supervisors, gave the "I'm traveling with a child" excuse, begged, got mad, was polite, but for some reason they would not budge :confused3 . After three different phone calls I decided I was going to try to get on another flight and thank goodness it worked out. Now, I have to make sure I watch that flight like a hawk 'cause they'll change it by 2 minutes and I'll loose my seats again :headache: . Being the last flight of the night I have a feeling there is going to be a huge back up already for that day's overbooked flights. I thought it was kind of strange this morning that they would give me hard time (charge me extra) when I have already been told that that flight was seriously overbooked. Just when you think you got the system figured out.... :badpc:

When are these changes taking place? Can I assume that my flights on Tuesday 2/28 and Sunday 3/5 are okay or should I call Song?

No, pretty much the way Song has been running over the last couple months, you CANNOT assume your flight is still the same as originally booked if you haven't been keeping an eye on it..

Go to www.flysong.com and go to "travel tools", then "your itinerary" and input your info. If your flight has changed, it will list the updated info. If you had assigned seats in the past AND your flight has changed they should show as now "unassigned" and you need to call and get your seats back, or if your original seats have been re-assigned to another traveler, try to get any seat assignment so you don't have to wait until you get to the gate for seat assignments. Then make sure you check in on-line 24 hours before your flight.

Does anyone besides me think maybe customer service is one of the reasons Delta is in Bankrupcy? My flight went down by $40, I was told it would cost me $50 to rebook at the lower rate. I agree I booked at the higher rate I was using credits from a previous flight.

Now it seems the "better, more well known" airlines charge a change fee and the "Discounted" airlines don't.

Who is in Bankrupcy court not the "Discounted".

My question with Delta is how much are they paying in extra Customer Service costs due to all of us calling in multiple times to have our seats reassigned when the time changes have been just a couple of minutes? I can understand wanting the customer to verify and approve the time change if it is signifiant, but most of the 6 or 8 calls I've made to get my seat assignments reafirmed have been due to changes of 2 to 6 minutes (other than the first change, which had me missing my connecting flight).

Is this standard with all airlines? Can't they post a policy that any changes of within, say, 15 minutes will automatically have their seats re-issued (unless equipment changes and original seats are not available)? Just my personal thoughts.

Mary Ann, I thought that was the same flight....I did book the mid-afternoon flight from MCO to Logan in mid-Oct...can't wait to see what happens to that flight. Ah well. I'm waiting for JB to open up their fall/winter window so I can book Dec.
If Delta wants to change their flights by just a few minutes, I wish they would just make the change and leave the seat assignments alone. I have to constantly watch them to make sure nothing has changed. I can't count how many times I have had to call them to reconfirm my seats because they changed a flight time by 2 minutes!!! 2 hours I can understand, but not 2 minutes!!! It's a huge pain in the tookus and a complete waste of my time. It's almost enough to drive me to fly SW!!! But, since I love JB so much, they are a terrific alternative...unless of course their fares start climbing..which looks like a distinct possibility!!!

Like everyone else on the Disney board I check my 3/31-4/07 Song flights every day, at least once. They've been changed about 10 times by about 5-10 minutes each time and I've had to confirm my seats each time. The highest level people I've talked to at Song tell me Airport security constantly changes their gate times, so they have to change their flight times. I don't know how much truth there is to that, so I just grin, bear it and hope for a smooth flight.
Good luck all,
Joe

OK Diane, You are not going to believe my next story :charac2: :charac2: :charac2: ....I swear the airlines are out to get me :( .

So I have pretty much sworn off Delta/Song unless I'm in a position that I can book a week in advance and don't care if they get me there the same day :teeth: . So now I am a loyal JB Customer. I book my summer flights on 2/10 with JetBlue. Great times, decent prices....ahhhhhh, don't have to be paranoid about checking my flights every day, blah, blah, blah.

My girlfriend & kids are going to join us for part of our vacation so she wants to fly back with us & wants my flight time. Well, go to look up my flight time and guess what???? They took my 7pm non-stop to MCO and changed it to a 4pm flight that stops in NYC and arrives at 10:10pm in MCO. They took a 3hr flight and booked me on a 6 hr flight without a phone call. Of course, I got it changed (and they ARE much more polite than Song), but when I first saw what they did tonite, I was studdering to my DH I was so PO'd. And then I just has to laugh........

Delta/Song changes will only get worse per the recent requests and filings to the bankruptcy court. They are looking to move off the all 757 Song platform and start swapping 737-800's for the less busy Song routes and time slots. These changes will start in May when the summer schedule kicks in. Can you imagine how much fun moving 199 757 passengers into a 154 seat 737-800 will be?

And with JetBlue suffering their first loss and looking to raise fares, I don't think the Boston/Logan offerings are going to be very cheap for the next year.

Enjoy your trip - I hope the scheule doesn't change again for you :)

Good thing you can still laugh!!! I'm just sitting with my fingers crossed. I have a flight to MCO in May with Delta/Song. George and Katie fly down on JB. Then we all fly home on D/S from Tampa. The flights I'm really concerned about are the flights in Oct. I'm flying with another mom and her dd for the girls' birthdays. I don't mind hassling with D/S abouyt my flight but this other mom is the type that says just book it...don't care about the price. I really don't want to end up flying into MCO at 3 pm and flying home at 7 am!!! And on non-direct flights. :crazy2:

Oh dear God!!! I just checked my flights...May and Oct...all changed. I actually got better flight times with the changes, but I know they won't stay that way!!

We are flying Song/Delta in August. How often should I call to check the times and seat assignments or does it really not matter until it gets much closer to flight date?
Also does anyone know if I want to keep track of a thread without replying, is there a way to do that on this board? Can you keep it as a favorite or bookmark it somehow? Thanks :confused3

You can check right on the Delta/Song site. I'll now be checking every day for all my flights.
If you want to subscribe to a thread, just go to the reply area, if you scroll down, you will see a box that says 'thread subscription'. Choose how you would like to subscribe, post a reply of some kind and 'send'...you should be all set.

Welcome to the airfare adventures!!

I'm flying in on May 15 for a little 'adult' time, then my dh and dd fly in the next day, the 16th. I love those girls only trips. I'm doing one with my gf and our two dd's who will both be celebrating their 13th b-days in WDW in Oct. Those are so much fun!!!

We are flying on April 14 from BOS to MCO and returning on the 23rd. Song has been changing our flight times too. Sometimes by a minute or two. Sometimes more. I check the web site everyday, sometimes more than once. When ever I see a change, I e-mail them. They have always given us the seat assignments right back. There has never been a problem with this. It is a complete pain in the A__ but I am happy that we get the seats back. There should not be a gate problem, at least in Boston since they have a new huge terminal all to themselves, should have as many gates as they need. Their computer systems need to be upgraded. Unless the schedule change involves changing the seat layout of the plane, they should not need to change seat assignments. Since we get the same seats back each time, they obviously know where they were. They should not need to get rid of them. Maybe after they get out of bankrupcy they can spend some money on a systems upgrade.
