Delta Skymiles...will we be bumped first?

We're using Skymiles award tickets on our August trip to WDW. We're all ticketed and have seat assignments, but I now notice that our flights are very full (both ways). Does anyone know if we will be some of the first to be denied boarding, should an oversell situation occur? Of course, we plan to be there quite early, but....I'm quite worried. :earseek:

I've never been bumped from a flight on Delta (I am a Skymiles member). In fact, I was once put in First Class instead on a Delta charter flight after a cruise. The ticket agents asked if anyone would mind going on a later flight. When I was asked I told them I had to get home ASAP because I was sick (I truly looked green too). Next thing I know, they call for boarding to begin and I discovered my seat was in first class! No points deducted either.

If a flight is overbooked I've always heard them ask for volunteers first. It doesn't hurt to get to the airport early too.

that first class is wide open on both flights, some 20+ seats. That makes me breathe a bit easier (for now), for surely they would bump oversells up to first before doing any voluntary or involuntary denied boardings...correct?

Not exactly. First, standbys and non-rev's will be told "no go". The first to be bumped will be those who show up late and those without seat assignments. Then they will move their ticket holders with the highest FF status to first to free up coach space. If they still need room they will move those who have paid the most for their tickets to first.

As long as you have seat assignments you should be fine.

Remember, what you see online isn't the real peicture. The mid plane exit door seats will always show as sold out, but aren't. Also the first 3-4 rows in coach might be showing as sold out but aren't, they are reserved for the highest FF status fliers and disabled people.

To increase your chances, get to the airport early, like 90 minutes or more early.
