Delta Seating experiences?

We're flying Delta for my birthday trip(roundtrip from SFO to MCO, with a layover in ATL). My DBF hates flying(this will be his third time flying and he's very very very nervous), so I'm becoming pretty paranoid about our seats. Has anyone on the board ever had their seating arrangements changed? Or have your reservations tended to stay the same?

I booked directly through Delta, if that helps. :scared:

if you booked your flight through Delta, you should have been able to choose your seats right then and there. In all the times I've flown Delta and chosen my seats, the seats I picked were the seats I had when I got on the plane....they don't change unless you opt to "take a bump" for the next flight if they overbook. If you didn't choose your seats when you first booked, you can log in w/ your confirmation # and you can choose your seats and save it.

But it's not like Southwest where it's kind of a seating "free for all". You've got your seats assigned... good luck to him. maybe get some travel games or playing cards that you both can play to keep his mind busy....(they've got monopoly and all kinds of games). Or if you can load movies onto your phone or a portable device...anything to keep his mind busy !! ;)

I flew on Delta during this past Spring Break. And for 2 out of the 4 flights, my seat assignments went poof! I ended up with decent ones, right on the aisle, which is what I like. But there were many familes trying to rearrange their seats, as they were split up all over the place.

I did choose seating assignments for all four flights. *fingers crossed* that they don't change. I figure if they do, I'll let the flight attendants know that he suffers from anxiety and probably won't board a plane if he has to sit alone.

I have never had to find different seats when I got to the gate when flying Delta. Have I had my seats changed? Yes, but I realized it when checking to see if anything had changed in my future flights.

I would recommend doublechecking a day or so before your flight. Then, check again at the gate. When you checkin online (which I always do), it should list your seats...so you'll be able to tell at that time if they are what they are supposed to be.

I recommend checking frequently on the Delta website your seat assignments. Everytime Delta makes a change to their schedule(even if only a few minutes), I find my seat assignments also went *poof* like a previous poster. I would try to make the new seat assignments online and remember making calls to their customer service dept as well. Don't assume the seat assignments you made originally will be the ones you end up with....this is one reason why Delta frustrates me so much!

I would do like others said and check online what you seats are and verify by checking in online the day before. I've flown on lots of delta flight and don't know that I've ever been moved. I do recall it happening on Northwest and United though.

Also check www.seatguru.com and see if your seats are recommended or not incase you do want to change them.

We are flying Orlando / Las Vegas on Delta in a couple weeks. I generally fly Southwest (and hate the boarding), but for this Ladies-Only Vegas escape, some folks wanted Delta miles. The advantage from my perspective was being able to select seat assignments.

But I don't trust any airline and have learned to check the booking regularly...almost daily. This way I make sure our flights haven't changed and we still have our preferred seats. It's a PITA to go through this, but gives me some assurance that if changes are made I'll have time to fix them rather than be surprised when I get to the airport. So far the only change was to our advantage!

You have to keep checking your flight times and seats. I just checked mine last night (check once a week) and they had changed the type of plane for our return flight from MCO so our seats were reassigned. They put some of us in one row and others in other rows. I just changed the seat to the row I wanted and now we are all set again. Just keep your confirmation number handy and keep checking.
