Just got back from WDW (great trip, BTW), and I want to give some of you flying on a Delta connector a heads up..............not all of the Delta connections are "participating airlines" for DME! :sad2:
We found that out yesterday when we went to check in at the Airline desk at the Boardwalk. Even though our flight was listed as Delta, and our receipts were marked Delta, because Delta uses Freedom Airlines at RDU, it's not DELTA!! :furious:
So I advise anyone using a "Delta connector" to call beforehand; otherwise, you'll be the one checking your bags at the airport, after taking them from the DME bus.
It's not that it's such a hardship (we do it that way when we fly SWA), but it was an unpleasant surprise. (And another reason amongst many, to avoid using Delta when we could use SWA instead!)

We just got back too and our flight was "Freedom" through Delta. We were told that it was due to a contract that had not been renewed yet so I don't know if that will change in the future or not. We had the front desk at the Beach Club print our boarding passes but I was not expecting having to transport our baggage. They did take it from the airport to the hotel when we flew in so that part at least was not an issue. I wish they would have had a note on the Magical Express information to alert you to this but maybe they are thinking it will not be permanent. We had a great trip as well. We loved the Food & Wine festival! :)

Same is also true for all major airlines with the exception of American Airlines, who fully operates their connecting service under the title American Eagle. Some people may be unaware that Delta Connection is really just a name that the individual airlines put on the side of their aircraft. All of the following fly under the name Delta Connection...

ASA (Atlantic Southeast Airlines)
Comair
Freedom Airlines
Chataqua (Republic Airlines)
SkyWest Airlines

No flights besides those actually operated by Delta Airlines Inc. are eligible for resort check in....

So no one gets confused by this thread. Resort check in and DME are not the same thing.

Please do not confuse the two.

What you should be saying is.... "not all Delta airlines are participating airlines for resort check in". (not DME)

You do not have to be using DME to be using resort check in, they do not go hand in hand. :thumbsup2

edited for less confusion

my bad :)

I don't think Comair, ASA, or Chataqua have been affected, I think it's just Freedom that has a contract problem at the moment. Don't know about SkyWest.

Chataqua is still eligible for RAC, we used it a couple of weeks ago when they were turning away people on Freedom.

We had no problems using RAC for our Delta/Chataqua flight.

Hello everyone,

I have spoken to some people inside Delta, that I know, about this situation. They are now aware of it and are working with Freedom to get them back into the program. I have no idea how long that takes, but I do know that they never meant for Freedom to not be a part of it.

Hopefully this will all be straightened out soon!

I hope they get it straignt before I leave on my 12/13 trip! I am also frying RDU-MCO on Delta/Freedom, and chose it over waiting for a SW Ding specifically so I could use RAC.

I just flew home yesterday Nov 11 and had to check my own luggage at the airport for Freedom Airlines (Delta) coming to RDU.

FYI, Chataqua also flys some routes for American Airlines.

We flew home on Sunday November 19 using Delta/Freedom and had to check our bags at the airport. They said the contract had still not been renewed but they were working on it.

Just wondering what his happened lately, we went in Dec 06 stayed at WL and no problem.

Just wondering if that was a fluke, anybody traveled lately..

Brooke :)
