Delta is changing FF program

In what marks a fundamental shift to its frequent-flier program, Delta will become the first major network carrier in the U.S. to have passengers earn award miles based on the fare they pay, rather than how far they fly.

That's a change that actually makes sense...at least from the airline's perspective. They want to recognize high $ value customers.

We'll see if it really accomplishes the goal of recognizing high value customers.

As bad as Disney IT is, it appears that at the current time, DLs is worse. They recently tied earning elite status to $$ spent in attempt to recognize high value customers. The only problem is that their IT doesn't recognize many fares purchased through corporate travel departments or fares purchased for international travel on parter airlines. Apparently business and international travelers were not the target market for high value customers! -- Suzanne
