Ok. Was just on Delta's website and they have a nonstop flight from Hartford to Orlando for $149. It leaves @ 7am & lands @ MCO @ 9:45am. This sounds perfect for me BUT I need to know how this flight is? Does it leave on time? How is Delta out of Hartford (have not flown Delta in a long, long time)?

Would like to book this flight today, but just want to make sure I'm not making a BIG mistake.

My current outbound flight on SW won't land until 11:20am, so to get there earlier is what I want. I can use that credit for my return flight.

HELP!!!!!

Only flew out of Hartford on Delta once and had no issues. We almost always fly Delta out of Boston and just about leave on time every flight. If it's a price and time you are happy with I would book it!!

What are your dates of travel?

I've flown this flight a number of times. It typically leaves on time, and service is generally good. You CAN pay your baggae fee (remember, $15 for the first bag...not free like SWA) on-line, when you check in from home 24 hours before departure, and then drop the bags with the skycap.

Here's the thing, though: MOST of the 6:50 flights post labor day (early Sept '09) have been changed to an 8:30 flight, arriving around 11:15. The 6:50 "disappeared" back in June, and was replaced with the 8:30 flight. Since Delta is NOTORIOUS for changing it's flight schedules (not just at Hartford/BDL, but everywhere), and since they've ALREADY changed a good batch of those 6:50 flights (we were on one in mid-September) to 8:30 flights, I would go into the purchase with "eyes open". There is a good possibility that flight might get rescheduled a bit later in departure time....and if it does, you'd likely be arriving only a few minutes (rather than a few hours) earlier than the SWA flight.

That being said, the return Delta flights from MCO to BDL have not changed more than 10 or 15 minutes in either direction. So those seem to be super dependable...or as dependable as anything Delta flies at this point.

Edit: In case you're wondering what Northwest Airlines has to do with things (from the above threads)....the flights WERE delta flights, then changed in February to NWA flights, then changed BACK again, in June, to Delta flights. Fun of the merger, and all that.....:)

I'm flying out on 9/25, but am now having a hard time finding transportation to the airport and if they make that many changes, then I think I'll stick with Southwest.

Heh heh...that's the date my family and I arrive BACK at BDL/Hartford. :)

The other thing that would make me nervous:

That 7 AM flight looks like it STARTS flying, for the first time, on 9/24. I can't find hide nor hair of it prior to that date, and even see a couple 8:30's still flying AFTER that date (9/26 and 9/29, for example). In fact, it looks like it might only be running on 9/24, 9/25, 9/27, and 9/28. There might be a 7:10 starting up on Oct 1st??

In any event, it looks like Delta is futzing with their AM schedule out of BDL. And to me, futzing usually leads to continued changes...

I think, knowing what I know now.....it'd be too risky for me to drop the SWA flights.

If you're having issues with airport transport, have you ever considered CT Limo? We've used them a bunch in the past for work...they've been great, and relatively inexpensive (usually not much more than our 1 week of parking would be).

I've used Delta several times from BDL and the flights were always on time. Never had any problems. In November we will be using Southwest for the first time b/c Delta was too expensive. If you need to drive to the airport I would recommend using Roncari Valet to park your car. They have shuttle to the airport - very eay to use. AAA offers a good discount.
