Anyone else have problems with Delta changing your flights and not notifying you? I realize they are subject to change, but that is why they took my phone number and email address. My flight and my sisters flight were both changed and neither of us were notified. :sad1:

My change was no big deal, but my sister's flight changed from departing at 8:00 a.m. to departing at 6:30 a.m. She is flying with two little kids and didn't want to have them at the airport too early. Now they will have to be at the airport at 4:30 a.m.

Just needed to vent. It is the second time they have changed our flight without notification since we booked them. Mine wasn't big changes, but we had already preselected our seats. when the flight changed, they just reassigned us, to a wing seat on each segment of our flights. I don't want a wing seat, my kids won't see a thing. I was able to rearrange my seats thank goodness, but they should notify you, you pay enough money for your seats to get a lousy phone call or email.

Ok, I am done now. Thank you.

Last year when we flew Delta, we were notified about a change in flight time. We are flying again with them in April... no notification of any changes yet.... I wonder if I should check? Our flight leaves at like 8:30 am... I would freak if it was changed to 6:30 am... I feel your your sister!

I had one problem after another with my most recent trip to Orlando on Delta. I used FF miles and booked my Thanksgiving 2006 trip last January. I would periodically check my itinerary online, and once noticed a message that said to contact Delta. From my little hometown airport, ComAir flew to Cincinnatti. Delta dropped Cincy and changed to having all flights go to Atanta, but they didn't notify me...I had to see it online! Then in August, the headline on the front page of our newspaper said that Delta was dropping service from my airport at the end of September! I called Delta right away, but THEY didn't know they were dropping my city for at least another week! I was rebooked out of a different airport an hour away (not a big deal), but every time a flight number or flight time changed by even a few minutes - they dropped my preassigned seats. Southwest had some great DING fares to Orlando at Thanksgiving - and had I purchased my ticket on Delta - I definitely would've gotten a refund and gone with Southwest. Since I was using miles, I knew that to cancel with Delta would only prolong the pain of having to deal with them on a future trip.

YES - definitely check your flights online!

Okay, this may sound stupid, but how do I check it online? I went to Delta.com, and didnt see where I can enter my flight # for April.. so, I just put in like I was looking for tix on my date/time, and guess what? my flight # wasnt listed! hmmm.. there was another flight #, at 15 min. later, and I checked the available seating, and the seats I bought are reserved on that flight... do you think they changed my flight to that?

Log-in at Delta's web site in the upper lefthand corner of the home page - assuming you have a frequent-flyer number. Then click on "Itineraries and Check-in."

Go to www.delta.com and and go to check in/itineraries. You should have a 6 digit confirmation code (mine is alpha and numeric). If not, CALL DELTA. I can't beleive the changes they have made on our flights from November to now for a May departure.

And yes, if the flight changes by a couple minutes, your seat assignments get dropped and you get whatever! So I will be checking everyday. I know it sounds compulsive, but I want to get what I want. I have never received a notification from Delta. When I asked the rep today about being notified, she said "well, it may be because the change just occured" I said NOT. This is the second change and no notification. She read off my email and house and cell number, so they have all the info, they just didn't do it. My sister wasn't notified either, so I wasn't just a fluke that got missed.

Please, check your flights. If you need any more help, let me know. Delta is 1-800-221-1212.

I check my flights once a week now that it's closer to May. Yesterday I checked and Delta had changed the Arrival time by 8 minutes earlier (no biggie), but we lost our seats. I called and they reinstated actually with better seats! But if I wouldn't have called yesterday, by today they probably wouldn't have had 3 seats together left. The plane is pretty full now. It was just a minor inconvenience and all airlines do it. I wouldn't get upset and say I'd never fly Delta again because of it.

Last year Delta changed my flights about 6 times and only notified me of the change that took place within the 30 day before window. Just keep checking and you'll be ok.

Thanks! I checked, and both my flights are changed! departing 15 min. later, and coming home, departing over an hour later! on the itinerary, it says "not assigned" under seat ... but on that flight(the little picture), it shows my seats as reserved... is that okay? We have first class seats.. all 4 seats in row 2... they couldnt change us out of first class could they?

Most airlines change schedules, but Delta is the only airline I've flown where a change of a flight number or flight time has kicked out my seat assignment multiple times! Every time I called to get a seat assignment, I got moved further and further back in the plane. My seat numbers have rarely changed on American - unless there has been a major change of equipment.

I agree with NancyIL

Unless the plane size changes, why would the seats change? When I booked this flight, I was in the 12th row. Now I am in row 44:confused3

I personally think it is crap.

Our flights have changed a couple of times by a few minutes for Apr/May. When I've called to get the seat assignments I've been told each time they are still in the system, but they just don't show up on the Internet. Only one time the seats have actually changed due to a change in the size of the plane.

Whenever I purchase tickets way in advance I do a couple of checks before the trip because all carriers need to make adjustments in their schedule from time to time.

Legacy airlines tend to notify passengers of itinerary changes three to five weeks prior to the flight. Don't expect to get called for every single schedule change.

When I fly Delta, which is seldom nowadays, I always checked my flights on a Sunday morning. That's when they always seemed to change. I seldom lost my seat assignements though..they just didn't show up on-line, so I had to call and get them put back. That would happen if there was even a 3 minute time change!!!
The only time we 'lost' our seats and had to get new ones was when they cancelled our flight and combined it with another one. Both flights were 3/4 full, so obviously someone lost out. I was able to change my flight to the one I had originally wanted but was way too expensive at the time of booking.

With Delta, you have to check all the time. I check at least once a week up to 2 months before flying. Then, it's daily. Get a FF number...it's really easy to check that way. If my flights changed, I always called them right away. Some told me I didn't need to but I felt better doing so.

Exactly. I will check once a week and any time it shows no comfirmed seats I just call and have them fix it. I have just accepted that it will happen.

Last April we traveled with 3 other families. After the first major change to one family's flights (see below) Delta allowed DH to attach the confirmation numbers of the other familes' flights to ours in their computer so we could make any changes needed for everyone at the same time. We also had everyone sign up for skymiles so were could make seat changes on line.

The one family mentioned above made their ressies after everyone else and did not get on the same flights down as because it would cost more. Well they had a major change to their flight down, they were not scheduled to get into ATL until after their connecting flight left. DH called and was able to get them on our flights at no extra cost. So that schedule change actually worked out for the best.

When they changed our flights in December (as we were en route to the airport) they called me on my cell. That flight never left the ground and they had to sell us to a US Airways flight. We got home around midnight, when we were supposed to get home around 2pm.

For our most recent reservations in May, they've changed our flight and the type of airplane so now my DH and I aren't sitting together. It's a full flight. I checked online and there's another flight they could've bumped us to with plenty of seats. I still need to call them about that.

One thing I've learned by coming to the Transporatin board and venting is that:

1. The airlines owe us nothing
2. Be glad we get the low airfares we get
3. The airlines owe us nothing.

:rolleyes1

We've also had our Delta flights change several times and have been able to change our seats online without being skymiles members. I did have to first call and have the flight "confirmed" and get seat assignments again, but I could then change the seats myself online.

I did not know that. That's great. DH always flyies with Delta through work so we all are signed up and use Delta most of the time.

I just got off the phone with Delta and spoke to a great rep who was happy to move us to the earlier flight and sit us together!

Hopefully it'll stay that way until May! (fingers crossed)
