Delta - ECert

I have a ecert from Delta for $150 that expires on 10/9/14. Does that mean I have to make a reservation before 10/9 or do I physically have to fly by 10/9. I hate to call and ask - sit on hold and if I call twice I will get 2 different answers. Happened in the past. THanks

Generally it is spend by that date on Delta.
