Delta Check In Query

At RDU and GSO, I din't see a dedicated line for people who want to use kiosk and have Delta handle the bags
At RDU's Delta kiosks (and at other Delta kiosks I have used), you can check your bags. A Delta agent is nearby and tags your luggage...They used to then take it away, but lately they make you take it down to the luggage screening area where you drop it off.

>>> what is a kiosk?

Hint: The airline check in kiosks look like narrow small screen video games or like ATM's that are not built into the wall. They are usually located near the respective airline's check in desk or near the area where people get in line to check in.

So, if I do the checked bag thing and use the kiosk, will I still have my seat assignments 75 minutes before departure. I am travelling with 2 kids - ages 6 and 7 - so we definitely do not want to be split up.

I have heard other airlines can be weird about seating the day of the flight. I usually fly NWA - which I can online check in AND check bags (wish Delta did that) - and never have a problem with seats.

Just not an experienced Delta flier so any help is appreciated.

Thanks [/B]

I do not understand how the way you check-in would affect the seat assignments. Do I have something ELSE to worry about now?

Last time I took someone to the airport, I noticed the many kiosks and that the line was much shorter than for ticket agent check-in. Does anyone know if every member of the group must have the ID to put in the kiosk or if I could do everyone's with my skymiles card? (Don't know the current whereabouts of DH's card)

Thanks,
Tammy

I haven't heard anything about Delta before, but I seem to remember other posts on this board about other airline -maybe USAir - where when they went to check in at the airport, their seats were different.

If you bought the seats together, you only need one card. I did the kiosk thing coming home at MCO and as soon as I pulled up my ressie, my whole family was there too.

I've never had a seat changed on me by Delta. I keep up with the Skymiles and the website and watch it continuously. Also, when checking in at the kiosk in MCO, I did notice that I could change my seat. Since I already had the emergency exit row, I didn't change it. If worse comes to worse, you could change your seats then if for some reason delta moves your seats.

Depending on the size of your bag, you could always gate check it. That way you will not have to wait for the baggage to get off the plane since it would be at the gate when you get off the plane. If the bag you want is small, you could always go that route and save yourself some hassle.
