Delta buys a refinery in bid to cut its fuel bill

I'm guessing it might help Delta but seriously doubt they'll lower their prices to the customer. Suppose it's too far fetched to hope they'll pass on their savings huh? LOL LOL

Fantastic! I hope it works. Not just for Delta's sake but as a wake up call to the oil industry that wants to close US refineries in order to drive up costs. I wonder what issues Delta will face though.

I will be interesting to watch how it all pans out for them.

I Totally agree!:thumbsup2

One issue, Depending how much of the Delta routes this refinary is supposed to supply, they still have to get the fuel around the US and the world.....

AKK

This is not the first time a non-industry player has purchased a refinery, and history has said it doesn't work. I think this is a bad decision on Delta's part.

I'm with Lewis on this one; it will be a hard row to hoe, but if it works, more power to them.

The oil industry protects its own, and I predict that they will have hard time getting an equally good deal on crude supplies. It will also be interesting to see how well they deal with DOE regulation; airlines these days are not used to that environment.
