I just booked our flights for late august and was suprised to find that the prices had actually gone down....a pleasant surprise!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

What did you end up getting? I know when I first looked for 4 of us, it was $781 plus luggage. I checked a couple of weeks later and it was $701. DH's vacation still not confirmed so I'm afraid to book, just in case.

But the flights were both non-stop, and GREAT times.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 That's great! I love finding a great deal.

I booked our flights out of Calgary on Delta in November for $361 with all taxes per person so I was super happy with that.

Right now, there doesn't seem to be anything better than your quote of $701. We were going to be booking 3 of us at $550 out of Detroit from Aug 27 to Sept 6. But have now decided to drive as we have someone else coming with us.

Detroit prices are looking better and better every day. Might have to start doing the extra drive as the savings are substantial over Buffalo.

Wow! Thats a great price. I paid $325 with tax and have to drive down to Seattle. In Aug. For next trip I'll have to watch Delta out of Vancouver.

I paid $189 each taxes in. Last week my sister paid approx. $240 each. I was scared the prices were going to go up with all the stuff going on in the world right now. These were really decent flight times as well.

Just booked tonight ... one way on Delta and one way on Air Tran. Both Non-stop flights, and good times. $84pp each way plus taxes ... total for 4 was $780. Not quite as good as a few weeks ago, but like a PP said, with everything going on in the world, I was afraid to wait any longer. :)

I miss the $49 flights on Southwest from a few years ago. :(

Can someone recommend a park and fly hotel in Detroit that's safe to keep my car there for 2 weeks?

I've never left a car for that long before.

I also bought for $780 for 4 - flying Delta and AirTran.

We always stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites- it's SUPER clean and they have a continental breakfast in the morn.

I second fairfield inn and suites. We fly out of Detroit at least 3x a year and always stay there. The rooms are really clean and when we travel with our teen boys we can get a bigger room. They have a really decent continental breakfast. it also has a pool.

The best thing about this place though is it is right beside the quik park where you park your car. Like you we always go for over the 1 week offered in the package from the hotel so we park the night we are in the hotel at the hotel and then move over when we are going to the airport. This means we can put an extra overnight bag in the car for the hotel only and we pay less.

The one and only thing I can think of that I might complain about is that they don't have bathtubs, only showers.

I had to check, Delta out of Vancouver wasn't very good :sad2: Don't know why, it's not that far from Calgary?

CONGRATS!! We love flying out of Detroit and when you get a deal like that, it's even sweeter!:wizard:

Unfortunately, I can't use Fairfield Inn since we need 14 days parking.

Fairfield does have a great deal and I would definitely stay there if we were staying 8 days or less.

They only offer 8 days but you can stay there since the parking is with quik park. We do this all the time. You just pay the extra to quik park when you leave.

Just booked our flights out of Detroit as well. We have always flown out of Buffalo on Jetblue or Southwest. Not this time. I couldn't get anything for the last week of August under 1300 or so.

So we weighed the cost of driving vs. flying out of Detroit and Detroit won. Airtran for under 800 for four of us on direct flights.
Detroit is a good 5 hour drive from here so we will be staying overnight the night before.
Someone on the budget board recommended parksleepfly.com and it seems to have some great deals. Worth looking into as it is cheaper to book through there with parking adn a room then it is just to park for the week at the airport.

Yep.. that's what we booked pretty much just slightly different times. Just don't forget you want to add bag fees and seat selection on top of that. I think it's a good idea to pay for the seat selection on this one as it returns Labour Day weekend and is bound to be full.
