Hello Dis friends,

I am staying onsite for the first time in April and I have a couple of questions about onsite deliveries.
I understand the onsite properties won't accept an order and hold it if it has alcohol but what if you are there to accept the delivery? How does receiving a delivery at one of the big hotels work? I've order from Vons before and on one occasion the hotel called us to let us know our order had arrived as we were lounging by the pool and the second time the delivery arrived before we checked in and the hotel took care of receiving the order and even placed it in our room (Love you HOJO!!!)

Could I conceivably order for it to arrive in the morning before we check in ?

Also, if I order something from a US website and have it shipped prior to arrival how long will the hotel hold it.... How will the hotel know when I'm arriving for check in?

Thank you for your help!

Cannot help with alcohol. .but I frequently Ship packages to hotels when I address the label I always mark such as below
John Smith hotel guest (Jan 2- 8)
Using shippers such as Amazon Prime where you can guarantee a shipping window helps as well; I can then shoot for my package to arrive in the few days prior to my arrival or even during my stay. My personal rule of thumb would be to shoot for the three days prior I don't think I would want to go more than a week.
I have shipped to many different hotels and only once has the front desk charged me to accept a package; that was the Sheraton Park and at that they charged to accept my VONS order too. One other thing if you can ship with a method with a tracking number you will know when your package arrives which could help if it wherever misplaced I have never had this happen though.

I haven't ordered from Von's, but I ship from Amazon frequently. I simply put "Guest - My Name Arrive xx/xx/xx".

I stayed at the Sheraton and I don't think they charged for my Vons order. This was the time when we let them know a delivery was arriving at a specified time and we would be waiting by the pool. DH may have tipped the bellman/concierge, but I can't remember. Great insight though, thank you.

I'm in Canada so sometimes deliveries get delayed at the border so I'm concerned about what would happen if my parcel arrived after I checked out. :( US Amazon/big stores probably have very reliable shipping I'm sure. Setting an arrival for a couple of days before I check aught to be enough time?

I hear you I am in Canada too...that is why I opt for things with guaranteed shipping windows. ..Amazon prime is great ...I have done Ll Bean things like that if it is scheduled to beat you there you should be just fine ..our groceries arrived just before we did and I had notified the hotel. ..but this was 4 years ago so maybe it has changed.

Maybe I'll check with the hotel to find out. Thank you for your help.

Bumping to the top for any other suggestions :)

We are staying at the Grand and for Amazon delivery, I take it you just put in that address and your name and dates of stay?
