DELETING POST: Marriott Grand Vista Studio Efficiency Reservation

Just be aware that Interval does not allow you to rent any week you get from them and they will cancel the week if they discover it. They've been known to cruise various boards looking for violators. While it's true you can give the week away with a guest certificate, II's terms and conditions don't allow you to rent it.

Shiela, Thanks for the head's up! I was posting this for my dad, as it is his reservation...and he wasn't aware of Interval's policy regarding "getaway" reservations. Does what you're talking about apply to these type of reservations?
Here's the background:
My sister is doing the College Program at Disney this coming Spring, and her arrival date changed. My parents are driving down with her, and had already made this reservation before her arrival date was switched...so now they're stuck with this reservation, as it is non-refundable. $340 is exactly what they paid for it...so they're not making any money off of it...just trying to recoup what they paid for it since it's non-refundable from Interval (and then will issue the guest certificate). Do you know if that's still against Interval's policy? If so, I will delete this post...don't want to do anything we shouldn't.

This would be against II's policy. They will allow you to book getaways for friends/family as long as at booking that friend or family member is paying with their credit card. Once it is booked, you can technically only give it away. You can't take any reimbursement for the costs of the week. This includes the guest certificate fee. It can be given away and have the person you are giving it to provide their credit card information on-line when you buy the guest certificate.

The reason getaways are so cheap is because they are non-refundable. II doesn't want people starting up rental business with these weeks. That is why they have a blanket policy of no renting these weeks. Your best bet will be to find a close family friend or relative to take this off his hands.
