I was going to signup for the Disney Institute but before I did it was gone. I understand it never went over as projected. The last year or so it was primariely used for corporate retreats and the such. It is now gone and its location is where SSR now site. I believe a couple of the building were not torn down but converted for SSR. I am sure other can correct me or offer additional info on this..smjj

After 9/11, the Institute and all the rooms/townhomes in that area closed down as part of Disney's post 9/11 cost cutting measures. The area is now Saratoga Springs, the new Disney Vacation Club resort. That will eventually replace all the old villas though some are still standing (but not being rented). The Institute buildings remain but have been remodeled and converted into buildings for the DVC resort

A minor clarification: While some of the DI common buildings were simply remodeled, all of the SSR Guest Villa Buildings are totally new.

Just not physically. The guides for the tours are all from the Disney Institute. They still have programs for Corporate groups but they are held in various locations.

Something that we learned on the "Backstage Magic" Tour.
