Delete threads

Would it make sense to have an option to delete a thread if no comments have been made, if we post in the wrong forum (like I always do!)

No. Own your mistakes. Otherwise someone could delete a thread they started that they didn't get the 'right' answers to.
Makes sense I guess. But what if they just produce clutter? I just made a fluff post in the controversial forum which has remained in situ to annoy forever more...

I don't think letting users delete a thread they started would be a good idea. Sometimes people ask for our advice and then get miffed when they get advice they don't agree with, that is a chance you take when you ask others for advice online. Other example would be where someone posts something simply to be argumentative and then also deletes the thread when they don't like what others are posting.

I sort my display to show threads with the most recent remarks. Something with no activity in the last 4 months is likely back several pages and I won't even see it.

Question brings back memories. I was an admin on a guitar forum (stratman50th- get the connection?) The webmaster/owner/admin had God's rights and could do everything. They assigned rights to the lesser admins and mods. Deleting entire threads throws things off just like in any database. Deleting is a very last resort. The best is to just lock it. The thread still exists for searches and statistics but dutifully marches down the page to die it's inglorious demise. So in other words no, you don't delete threads, even as an admin.
