Maybe I'm missing something -- I don't get why you put your foot in your mouth, nothing you said seemed to be inappropriate to me.

My neices and nephews lost their Dad two years ago and my nephews friend got in the car one day and said "I hate my Dad...I wish he were dead" Now that is putting your foot in your mouth.
