Delay for VS075 today

2hr 22min delay for Virgins new baby today from MAN and the arrival is showing 3hr and 7m late in MCO, hope all those parents are doing a good job keeping the excitement up for the kids. Not sure of reason.

Todays flight if it departs on time (11.00 am) scheduled to arrive 15.25 , should arrive 16.00 ? The new planes seem to take longer to arrive.

Anyone know why ?

I just thought the A330s wernt as fast as the 747s.

I have just had a look on the vflyer forum and apparently it is rumoured to be a safety ruling that they have to fly closer to land as they only have 2 engines , they have to take a route closer to Greenland and Iceland , rather than a more direct route over the Atlantic.

Yes that is quite true due to the ETOPS ruling re twin engine aircraft flying within a certain distance of somewhere to land in case of emergency.

I believe they have ETOPS 180 off the bat from what I have read, this probably doesn't affect the MCO routes, the high efficient cruise speed for the A330 is slower than the 747 at 474kts as opposed to 490kts on the 747. I remember "racing" past an A330 a couple of years back over the mid Atlantic.
Was the 747 10:25 depart -14:40 arrival? (not exactly sure)
the A330 is 11:00 depart - 15:25 arrival

So possibly only 10 mins in the schedule.

Okay, this is starting to worry me!!! We fly on this MAN - MCO service on 1st May and am wondering why there are so many delays on this route!!!

Showing final boarding at 11:35 so possibly going to get away within the hour today.

as per MAN depatures away at 11:34. Great stuff for people travelling soon.
