Just curious if there are any blue hen owners out there that can give me some tips on buying etc ?

Hi, we are from DE. to. and own at BWV 250 ( 150 resale and 100 from Disney) with 2 grown kids they each get one when we can't go anymore. :)

Best advice I can give you is to buy where you want to stay the most. :cool1: :cool1:

Also if you are getting a lot of pts ( 250 or more) you might want to get them in 2 contracts ( 150 and 100 ) that way if you want to sell 1 you can. You can't break up large contracts to sell and the large ones are hard to sell. :earseek: :earseek:

I agree with Paul. Buy where you want to stay the most.

We've been DVC owners at the BWV for over 5 years and love it!

Hi, we own 350 at BCV (250 and 100) and really, really want points at HH. We love that we can drive there in 12 hours and experience Disney service without chaos and crowds (we only go off season).

I agree that you should buy where you think you will stay most often. When we were buying, the salesman was pushing Vero, but we knew we'd never stay there, which meant we could never book at the WDW DVC resorts until 7 months before checkout. Since our kids are still young enough that we have to go when the rest of the world does (summers and school breaks), we wanted to be able to book 11 months out. I am so grateful that we understood that concept when we bought.

One last thing -- we LOVE the EPCOT area and we are so glad to own somewhere that we can walk to EPCOT, so buying at BCV was a great opportunity!

Hi...

we have points at bcv and saratoga springs and simply love the convenient locations.

we've been members for 3 years now. :cheer2:

I'm in my office in Wilmington right now. I live in Chester County, but I commute in five days a week- does that count??

I do think buy where you want to stay is great advice, especially if you want to vacation at a certain resort, or go at a certain time of year. If you don't really have a preference, you might want to take advantage of the current SSR offer to save some $$$ and grab 12 extra years on your contract.

Since we don't have an "absolute must stay" resort (well, maybe that's just me- my parents do love SSR and my siblings like VWL, VWL, VWL, and BWV, respectively), we have a small amount of points at each of four resorts so we kind of rotate where we stay using banking, borrowing, and the 11 month booking window. Each resort has its own unique appeal and advantages, so it's what works for us. I'm just tickled to be at WDW each and every time we go!

These boards can provide a tremendous amount of information so take advantage of the knowledge available and take opinions with a grain of salt.

Agree that you can find a lot of information on these boards and should buy where you want to stay. We have owned at OKW 230 pts for the last 6 yrs and just sold our BCV of 100 pts this past year that we had owned since they opened.

Hope that another Delawarean finds as much enjoyment from a DVC as we have - truly MAGICAL!! :cool1:

Hi, just another DE member checking in. Glad to see other DE members on the boards. :) As others have said these boards have lots of great info concerning DVC membership. We just got back from a trip, our first to VWL and really enjoyed the week.

Good luck in your decision. ::MinnieMo

Nice to see so many Delaware people enjoy DVC like us. We have been members since 1996 when BWV opened. Bought 150 pts then and added on up to 350 pts. Between us we have 5 grown children with children. Just got back in Nov from 8 nites BWV and we were 16 strong. The kids all love BWV the best.
We have stayed at all the resorts and each serves it purpose. Like I love OKW when we have a car and we are doing other things in Orlando. But with no car the family goes for BWV.
We have a Snow bird home near Vero Beach which we bought last year, but we would never give up our pts. This winter we have 4 trips over to WDW planned with visitors. That's why we love this timeshare. We can go as little as one nite.
But I also agree to buy where you want to go the most. Last week I called for the first week of Dec 2006 that was almost 11 months to and I still could not get BWV standard view. Sounds like the slow times have caught on.

hello slurpeeman,
I have been an owner 280 OKW since 1994. Love it and would do it again.

Another Middletowner checking in! Just paid off our first two contracts today and bought 200 more pts last week for a total of 520 BWV! Best thing ever!!! :teeth: :teeth:

So, who owns the blue van with the DVC sticker (black on white oval) that I saw driving south on I-95 towards Newark????

I got a kick out of it!

We are expatriated blue hens now living in Clemson, SC,
and thoroughly enjoying 500 DVC points in our
retirement. We visit HH, VB, and SSR regularly with
home resort points. Even living as far south as Clemson,
we probably would not be DVC members if it were not
for the convenience of HH which was our first buy in.

DW is from Wilminton, DH is from Dover, both UofD
grads, 59 and 60 respectively.

My husband is originally from Wilmington DE and now lives in NY with myself and our 3 kids. We own at BCV 150 pts & SSR 150 pts. I love SSR over BCV but my Husband loves BCV over SSR. We are using points and staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in August as we both fell in love with the resort back in October 04 when we visited. Can't wait. Buy where you like but you can pretty much stay anywhere you like except the values on points. You can only determine where you like to stay. We rush purchased the BCV before they opened due to we could not purchase from home in NY back in May of 2002. SSR was purchased site unseen the first week points were available due to we just needed more, but also due to living in NY and being so close to Saratoga Springs - beautiful town and love it when I visit. It definetly reminds me of the town when we were there in October 04. Hopefully in a couple years (go down every 2 years) we will stay at both during our stay like last time.

Any time I see a Delaware thread I have to respond. Checking in from Hockessin.
Good luck with your purchase.
