Del Sol or Candy Cane Inn or Hilton at New Years?

I have three hotel reservations for Dec. 30-Jan 3. Del Sol, CCI, and the Hilton, for me and my teen and tween.

Time to cancel two of them. The Hilton is the cheapest but also a bit of a hike. CCI has the shuttle and Del Sol is right across the street. Both have breakfast, I think. CCI is a little bit cheaper, but not significantly so........

Thoughts? Which setting is nicer, as we plan to spend a little more time at the hotel than in past trips, as I'm sure the parks will be swamped.

(At Del Sol I have a family room with two queens plus bunk beds, at CCI just the two queens)

We are personally huge fans of CCI. Free parking, breakfast is good, great service, you get a voucher for a discount on your next trip... I think You have to pay for parking at Del Sol correct?

I have only stayed at the Hilton and it is usually our go to hotel it is not as close CCI. We are more coffee people than breakfast. they have a Starbucks and other small fast food type restaurants inside along with two small stores than have Disney stuff. If we walk its about 15 min but we usually take ART which stops right in front or the toy story bus. Everyone in my family likes this hotel from my daughter to parents to my teenage sisters

I just stayed at the Hilton and the ART bus worked quite well, but I could see giving the edge to a place that has free breakfast. (On the other hand, they have candy cane beignets at the Mint Julip Bar. )

Yes, pay parking at Del Sol but I won't have a car.

I have stayed at Del Sol and I liked it fine. It is nothing super special, but it was clean. Really none of the ones I have stayed at on Harbor are that different from the others. I always go for the closest walking motel that is the cheapest for my dates. So for your list, I would go with Del Sol. You just can't beat a short walk.

There's also the Toy Story Parking lot if you stay at the Hilton. We walked over in the morning because we were up early, but when we were tired, we jumped on the Toy Story bus and rode it back over by the Hilton, and it was a much shorter walk over to the hotel.

As a 1st timer, I couldn't decide where to stay. I finally decided just to go by the reviews on Trip Advisor, and honestly, I couldn't find anything negative about CCI, so we went with it.

My family has stayed at both CCI and the Hilton several times. Both are great in different ways.

CCI is more convenient transportation-wise. Their breakfast is complimentary, and pretty decent. Their rooms aren’t as nice or spacious as the Hilton (but I’ve never stayed in a standard room at the Hilton to compare). We have had such great experiences with the customer service at CCI as well.

We always walk over and take the Toy Story shuttle to and from the parks from the Hilton. It’s only maybe an eight minute walk to the pick-up/drop-off, so while it’s not quite as convenient as the CCI, transportation from the Hilton is still pretty simple. Also, if you are a Hilton diamond member, you get free Starbucks each morning, which is a big bonus for me. I do prefer the pool at the Hilton, although I suppose that isn’t as much of a factor for your upcoming trip.

We went with the Del Sol. Here now. It’s kind of a dump. That being said, the staff is very nice.

I still don’t want to have to take a shuttle at the end of the day with kids, so I’m not sorry I picked it. My teen can walk back to Del Sol unattended. Not sure I’d let him if a shuttle was involved.

The walk is 100% worth it but the Desert Inn and Suites right next door was much cleaner — or at least seemed to be (as I recall it was very sterile feeling). I wouldn’t stay here again if Desert Inn or BWPPI were available.

I should add that by “dump” I mean very dated and in need of some repairs/updating. Such as the bunk beds in our room (which are not as long as a normal Twin I don’t think) are very banged up, the hot tub jets seem to be disconnected, etc. But the staff seems very dedicated to the upkeep given what they have to work with.

We are right by the pool on the first floor. Walls seem soundproof to the walkway, but the small herd of elephants in the room above us are really loud.

If you book a room with a bunch of kids, ask for a ground floor room or a room above the Parking. Do the rest of us a favor.

If noise bothers you, get an upstairs room.

Why does the idea of a shuttle bother you? I used the ART shuttle for the first time this trip, and it was great - in fact, I've decided that for future trips, staying at a hotel in walking distance isn't going to be a priority, but staying in one on an ART route will be.

This is a really old thread. The trip has come and gone. I’m with piglet. I prefer the ability to walk back to the room. If we didn’t need a suite we’d be at bwppi. But we stay at the omewood suites and breakfast and dinner make up for the long walk. Or shuttle. We usually walk so we don’t have to dismantle our stroller.

Personal preference. As I said, my teen can manage to walk across the street alone. Not ready to shuttle yet by himself.
