I want to make chicken legs for dinner, but they are frozen. Is it ok to defrost them, coat them with breading, then bake them? I'm always worried about cooking with chicken.

This is what I do to defrost...

take a bowl of room temp or slightly cooler water and put the package of meat in the bowl. let it sit for about 30-60 minutes. Meat will be defrosted and still cool enough not to worry aobut anything growing. Works better than anythng else I've used.

I have defrosted chicken in the microwave but what always ends up happening is the tips end up getting cooked a little and I have to cut off those pieces. It's not worth it. Do what the other poster said with the water, I've tried that also and it works better.

::yes:: That is what I do too.

The only problem is I don't have 30-60 minutes to wait for it to defrost! I do this all the time-I forget to take out meat in the morning. I've changed to spaghetti for tonight-we'll have the chicken tomorrow night. Thanks!

Sounds like a better plan. Stories about trying to rush defrosting of chicken never has a happy ending.
