A friend from work keeps getting her hostas eaten by deer. Any suggestions on how to keep them away?

Put cayenne pepper powder and water in a spray bottle and shake vigorously, then spray the hostas with the mixture. Repeat every few days--the deer will stay away, and it won't hurt the environment.

As mentioned in another thread Liquid Fence works well. Shot Gun & Critter Ridder also. If the hostas are in the deers feeding pattern it's hard to break their habit. The sprays should help a bit.

my plants were devoured by rabbits and deer no matter what I did until I found a very pretty, safe and easy solution. Interplant wild fern in between. The animals won't eat the plant and the smell must deter them from coming anywhere near the other plants. Every week or so I just thin out the leaves so that there are enough to keep the animals away but not so many that they overpower the other plants.
