So my DD13 **insisted** that she needed to get her hair back to the blonde it was (she had picked a hair color that came out darker than she wanted), even after we went over what could happen to over-processed hair. So we did it. She's back to as close to her natural blonde as we could get, and the ends are kind of dry. I've trimmed about 3/4 inch off the ends, and would like to see if there is something to be done with the rest of it, since she doesn't want to cut it if she doesn't have to.

Can anyone suggest a good deep-conditioner for her? She is a natural blonde, if that matters, and her hair tends towards oily; she washes it daily.

Thanks in advance for any and all help! :D

Try Nexxus Keraphix. It's a deep conditioner that I use after coloring my hair (which is semi-often). I love it, and it doesn't cost and arm and a leg. You can find it at Target.

this weekend do natural organic treatments to her hair.. try a mixture of fresh mashed avocado, mayo and olive oil.. put this on her hair..then wrap plastic wrap around it..and let it set for an hour or two.

then rinse it out.
it conditions your hair.:goodvibes

Yep, I have fragile hair and get color. I use olive oil with avacado and wrap with plastic wrap for the afternoon. It really makes my hair feel luxurious.

Do you just use one avocado? About how much mayo and olive oil do you add to it? (I can't do anything without a "recipe" - LOL!)

I'm curious if other moms of 13 YO allow them to color their hair.:)

Hair coloring just isn't that big of a deal. We were getting perms when we were 10 (when perms were in style). It's not permanent.

I'm way over 13 and I started with the clairol hairpainting kits at 13. My dd got foil highlights at 13. I see 13 yr. old boys and girls color their hair all the time.

Also -see if you can get her to just use the shampoo at the scalp. Not rubbing the shampoo into all the hair (does that make sense?)

I thought the same thing when I read this. I never let my DDs color their hair...it was too long, and any damage would take forever to grow out. I did color DS's hair when he was younger (elementary school) because we liked (at the time) the blond hair with dark roots when it grew :) and it wouldn't take forever to grow out if it didn't turn out well (and we could potentially just shave it off) and there was no upkeep. JMHO

I am 40 and have never seen a reason to color my hair. I do like the Neutragena Deep Conditioner though. It comes in a jar.

Just one avocado and a tablespoon or two of mayo with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well then liberally spread on hair, working well on the ends. Then wrap the head in plastic wrap, as it were a swim cap. Leave on for several hours or an afternoon.

Also, she should not wash her hair everyday until this peroid of damage is over.

Try to do weekly little trims of her hair, this will help it disappear faster.

Also layering the hair will make it look healthy.

If it were me - I wouldnt just be deep conditioning, I'd be using a leave in daily, as well.

Im going to give you some suggestions, but theyre not that cheap BUT keep in mind, they truly work and they will last a long, long time.

For a leave in - I cant sing the praises enough of Sebastian Potion 9. Praise God, Jesus, Buddah, Allah and L Ron Hubbard for this stuff. It truly is amazing. I dont know what I'll do if they stop making it.
