Okay, we just received our THE letter and will be making ressies for a trip with the whole family in December. I finally even talked my parents into coming too!!!! I'm tooo excited. What are the pros and cons of a dedicated and a lock off? We'll be taking my parents and my brother and his girlfriend. I have to borrow some points for next year, but am thinking about adding on already :smooth:

The advantages of a lock off are: you will have 2 outside doors so that some of your party can come and go without disturbing the other.

Also with a lock off, the studio part will have a refrigerator and microwave, which can also lend to privacy.

With adults I would recommend the lock off, with a family with kids for safety reasons the one outside door is better.

Adding to the above (and I am assuming you are referring to BCV if you just purchased recently)-- the second bedroom in the dedicated 2BR will have 2 queens; in the lock-off, a queen and a pull-out double couch.

In regard to a lock off, I think I've read that the room keys are keyed so they will open both sets of doors. My concern is, are they able to set the charge accounts up for the different members of your party?

Each member of your party may have his/her own key with/without charging privielges. If you give someone in your party charging privilges you will be able to distinguish their charges by the distinct number code next to each charge. For example if four of you were going to be allowed to charge there will be a numerical code on each card that corresponds to each purchase on your bill. It is easy to separate the bill at the end of your stay using these codes.

I am sure someone will correct me if this has changed recently, but charging to room keys applies to all or none of the room's keys.

The second bedroom keys will be exactly the same as the other keys(exept for the ability to tell which charge came from which key) for a lock-off unit with regard to opening doors and charging ability.

Still not sure I understand. So are you saying that when we check in, the persons using the studio portion cannot have their keys set up with their charge info. and the 1 bedroom with their charge info?

That is what I am saying.

drusba.... Only 25 of the dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV have 2 queens. The other 53 have a sofa and queen bed.

tiberius.... Just wanted to take what you said one step further. If you reserve a 2 bedroom lock-off, all cards that have charging privledges have to have the same charge card. But, you can get some of the cards with no charging privledges at all and just have those people use thier own credit card.

Terry S: is that still correct? I thought they were supposed to be correcting the early "mistake" made by replacing the couch with a queen in all the dedicated 2BR's. Is that not happening?

drusba... Apparantly, they tried to fix their mistake, but they were only actually able to replace the double sleeper sofas with actual queen beds in 25 of the dedicated 2 bedrooms. The other 53 dedicated 2 bedroom double sleeper sofas were replaced by queen sleeper sofas. It had something to do with the size of these rooms. If they put the queen beds in them, they would not pass some standards.

Terry is correct and as stated it was due to room size. Also only members staying on points can book a dedicated 2 queen bed unit.

We stayed in a 2 queen configuration at BCV in February. The second bdrm was big. The "view" was of the side of the hotel looking at shrubs. We loved this room being so private and spacious. We were looking for space and not view. The only bad thing was that it was the very last room on the corridor and a long trek to the elevators. We got the room at 6:30 PM so probably no one else wanted it because of its location.

icy-dog.... Do you remember what room number that was?

We were in room 451. Luckily I wrote it down in my notes. If you request this room be prepared to walk the whole length of the resort to the elevators. It was a great room!
