After reading Disboards I was happy to see the dedicated studios at AKV in Jambo would have the amoire and the closet, but lo and behold both studios we are currently in only have the amoire :( Any idea why this might be as it is such limited space for clothes to last 15 nights?

I have no idea how to answer your question.

I'm responding because of how hard I cringed at the thought of my wife bringing 15 days worth of clothes.
That translates into 45 days worth of clothes, because she changes for dinner... Then, in addition, she needs a back-up outfit in case she doesn't like what she puts on.
Don't get me started on shoes. :headache:

I'm not sure why, but isn't that wierd? I was in 3 different types of Jambo house studios-standard, savannah view, and value, a couple weeks ago, and all of them only had that small armoire space for hanging clothes. And yet, in the standard, especially, the vanity area was so big-there seemed to be alot of wasted space. All I could figure is that it had something to do with not being able to build the walls necessary to house a closet, or just not being willing to spend the money to do it. I was on a solo trip, so the armoire was sufficient space for one person's clothes. However, I did think how hard it would be to hang clothes for a whole family. I certainly hope there are going to be closets in Kidani house. I thought that this might be as major a reason as two bathrooms why people would prefer staying at Kidani house.

Based on the floor plans I've looked at, most but not all of the dedicated studios have a small broom closet. Rooms of the same type in Jambo House are not necessarily identical because of structural elements they had to work around during the conversion. You can see them on the floor plan and in the rooms that have one of these, something had to be moved or eliminated due to space constraints, for example the broom closet in a dedicated studio, or a single sink instead of a double sink in the master bathroom, or the connecting door in a 2BR lockoff is in the living area instead of near the entryway.

This got me thinking, is the Jambo house going to be a booking category when Kidani opens? I know that value and concierge will be there, but about if you book a standard or savanna? I would prefer Kidani and would like to guarantee that with the booking category.

We stayed in a lockoff studio at AKV a few weeks ago and it looked to me like the vanity and bathroom were unchanged from when they were AKL hotel rooms, other than removing the hairdryer from the wall. I think you are correct that they didn't want to spend the money to tear it out and build a smaller one with a closet alongside. Since they turned the original closet area into a kitchenette, we were left with nothing so they provided half of an armoire.

If they build Kidani according to the model room, there will be a broom closet for the ironing board, vacuum cleaner, etc. and an armoire for clothes. Here is the floor plan for the Kidani studios:

Well this should be fun. Me - DH and 2 teenaged DDs in a studio without a closet for 8 nights. :scared1:

Oh well! Hey we will be at Disney - and I will take major family "togetherness" with very limited space over a day at home anytime.

So then if the hairdryer was removed from the wall (why?), and from what I've read there is still one provided in the room, is it a "loose" one you plug in? And where is that stored as not all of the studio bathrooms I've seen pics of have the storage shelves under the sink(s).

Along the same line of thinking, will Kidani studio bathrooms only have one sink, while in Jambo there is a mix of single and double sinked vanities?

Thirdly, will all Kidani studios have storage shelves under the vanity?

Okay, I'm on a roll, but I'll stop there! :flower3:

The studios have just barely enough storage space for two people. DH and I managed pretty well, mainly because he doesn't use much of the hanging space so I had over half of that space for my clothes. The armoire looks big but only half of it is usable. The other half is used for the ironing board, vacuum cleaner, etc. if you are in a room with no broom closet. Even if your room does have a broom closet, people have reported that the right side of the armoire has no pole and no shelves so you still can't use it for clothes -- it's just a big, useless empty space! You get one large drawer in the little bench seat (in non-Values) and four very small dresser drawers. We used up every bit of drawer space between the two of us.

It is stored on the shelf in the left side of the armoire. There are no shelves under the vanity in the Jambo studios.

According to the floor plan I posted above and the model room the Kidani studio bathrooms will have one sink. In Jambo House I believe all of the studios have double-sink vanities (except perhaps HA studios) but the master bathrooms in the Jambo 1BRs have either one sink or two depending on conversion issues.

Thirdly, will all Kidani studios have storage shelves under the vanity?
The vanity in the Kidani model room has storage shelves:

And just for comparison purposes, this is the way under the vanity looks in the 3 types of studios (excluding concierge-I don't know there) in Jambo house.

I just noticed that although I had double sinks in every studio I had, the model of Kidani house shows only one sink in the vanity area. I wonder why the difference (just like I wonder why BCV has a single sink, but I think BWV has two).

Thanks for posting that photo! Yes, the Concierge studios look exactly the same (as do the AKL hotel rooms).

By going to just one sink in the Kidani studios, they can put in storage drawers and shelves below the vanity since there is not as much plumbing in the way. It also provides more space on the vanity to set out all of your stuff.

So I'm assuming that although there's no closet space in any of the rooms in Jambo house, and little room in the armoire, there'll be lots more room for hanging clothes in Kidani (is it "house"?). Assuming that's the case, would this perhaps be another reason (besides two baths in 1 BRs) for people to request Kidani (house)?

I don't know if there will be more hanging space in Kidani Village or not. The armoire in the model room provided hanging space only on the left side even though the right side will not have to serve as a broom closet. It's just a big empty space with one shelf: (Note: this photo was taken a year ago so maybe things have changed?)

There were three of us in a standard studio with just an armoire and we were CRAMPED. I had posted a photo of the room in another thread because the layout was so different than any of the other standard studios. We did NOT have a storage bench. The worst part was the enormous amount of throw pillows everywhere! It wasn't bad until we pulled out the sofa bed and had to figure out where to pile everything so we could still get to the bathroom.

This is studio 5412 - photo taken from balcony end of room.

Here is a photo of the "storage area." Our suitcases are piled up in front of the connecting door. The table and chairs are at the foot of the bed. You had to practically climb over the bed to get to the sliding glass door.

And finally, our view looking towards the pool.

And looking back towards the hotel.

Dh and I stayed in a dedicated studio on Zebra Trail (5531) last week for a few days. We had a closet......it wasn't huge, but, it was enough to hold my hanging clothes and an armoire with hanging space. I wasn't expecting a closet at all after I had read all the posts about studios and no closets. We also had double vanity sink ........I was a bit surprised that the hair dryer was not attached to the wall, but, a standard hair dryer laying on the shelf of the armoire. All in all, I was pleased with the room, but, I do think I will like the rooms in Kidani Village better...........and I believe this has been addressed before.......those of you who have complained about the long hallways at BWV......guess what........those long hallways now have some competition from AKV!!! It doesn't seem quite as long because at AKV they've placed the elevators more in the middle of the buiilding, however, you're still walking the long hallway.......just half of it is on the first floor from lobby to get to the elevator and then the other half is once you get to your floor!!
