Hey gang,

I requested about 2 months ago our upcoming June of 2008 Disney stay at SSR (our absolute fav place!). I requested a 2 bedroom dedicated villa and a particular building.

Did I shoot myself in the foot by requesting the dedicated 2 bedroom? Are there plenty of these? I have never requested one before. I'd really rather have the bldg choice than the 2 bedroom dedicated. Should I call and take the request off? They have always been good about getting my requests in all of my past stays there.

Anyone have any experience with this?

thanks!

Dedicated or lockoff isn't a request, it's a booking category. They usually book 2 bedrooms as dedicated unless there are none left, then they go to lockoffs.

Forgive me DebbieB...I'm not getting this. So you're saying that by requesting a dedicated 2 bedroom, I still might get my building request and I will be ok? (in other words..I didn't just shoot myself in the foot...?lol)

I think that you booked a dedicated 2 bedroom, and it will say on your reservation, and that you requested a particular building. So, you have 1 request....I hope you get it!

Just remember, a request is just that, a request. There is no guarantee you will get the building you want. Hopefully you will, but based on the many posts we have seen here regarding past trips of other members, it may not happen. Just prepare yourself mentally for that scenario if it happens and you will still have a fantastic vacation.:goodvibes

The dedicated is not a request. When you make a reservation, they have to set it up as either dedicated or lockoff. You can't do "best available", it has to be one or the other.

There are 20 2-br dedicated per building at SSR, and 24 2-br lockoffs per building.

Actually, with a dedicated, you are likely to get a better view than with a lockoff. Only 4 of the 2-br dedicated are on one end or the other, while 12 2-br lockoffs are on one end or the other.

Wow, thanks everyone for all the useful info. I did not realize there were that many lockoffs! I really thought they were few and far between.

Who knows...maybe I will end up with a better view that I had thought.

As for the requests, I realize they are just requests (someone on this thread mentioned that). I have been very fortunate all but one time in the last 5 years of getting the building I have asked for. But...I'm just happy to be at Disney....so...who care what building I get!!

thanks again,
Esmerelda :)

Thanks for the info dvc john, SSR concierge did not know the number of 2br dedicated units per building when I asked during our 2 day stay last week. We will be staying in a dedicated 2br at SSR from Jan. 20-29 (Our first stay in anything but a studio) and we were also wondering about the amount in each building. We have not yet made a building request, would like to be in CP or the Springs but am concerned about being at the last 2 bus stops (FIL will be in a scooter). Any advice would be welcomed.

We have stayed in both CP and the Springs.
Whether the scooter is a problem or not really depends on who got on ahead of you. You could be at the first stop and 2 people are already waiting with scooters or wheelchairs. Since there are only 2 wheelchair/scooter spots per bus, you would be out of luck.
When we stayed at CP, we were never not able to to get on because the spots were full. We had a couple of times at the Springs where we could not get on. Once was because there was one scooter on but it was large and we could not get DD's wheelchair by to get on. The other time, we were waiting at the bus stop and when the bus arrived, another family with twins in power wheelchairs drove up to the stop and got in line ahead of us. We told them we had been waiting and they were willing to let us on (since we were first). We decided to let them go first since the 2 of them would be able to go on the same bus that way.

If the bus gets to the stop and there are people sitting in the wheelchair/ECV spots, they are asked to move so the wheelchair/ECV can be loaded.

Requesting a dedicated two bedroom will not hurt your chances with a building request. It only means you ill have a dedicated two bedroom. All of the rooms are evenly distributed throughout SSR and per building. We always request the dedicated unit.

We've been in a few dedicated 2 bed and they have always been in what we consider the better views of the buildings. When we had studios (part of lock-offs) we have always been on the sides of buildings with only partial views. (This is in Congress park) I never made the connection until now !
