I once felt this way, too.
Then, I recently found out that I actually know one of the Disney Board Members. I used to work for his wife when I lived in Los Angeles. Albeit very wealthy people, you would never know it. They are extremely down to earth. His wife would always go to lunch with her staff, never flaunted her seniority, mentored underlings, promoted staff, shared praise, etc. In many ways, she was the best boss that I ever had. I worked with her for two years before I even realized how wealthy and connected she and her husband were. And, it was something I wound up being told by someone else and also pieced together. I met her husband on several social occassions, and he was always extremely nice to everybody. In fact, we were all given tickets to a rock concert and I wound up dancing with him at one point.
What upsets me is that he seems to be one of the board members on Roy Disney's hit list. It makes me really question whether to take anything that we are hearing from Roy Disney, or anybody on face value.
While I never thought that I would be defending Eisner, or the Disney Board, I would like to remember that there are 2 sides to every story. Perhaps, Eisner has lasted as long as he has for reasons that are not apparent to the rest of us. People that tend to have to hash differences so publicly as Roy Disney is, usually have a hidden agenda.
