Decorating - color to complement cherry wood

Are there any decorators out there? I'm finishing a room with cherry wood and am trying to choose a paint color. What is the best complementing color? I have always had oak in the past, and I've been told green is the best color for oak, but cherry is new to me.

We painted our walls Behr Toasted Almond. It's a nice beige color and it looks GREAT with our cherry furniture.

I would say it's medium, tending more to dark than light.

I have cherry kitchen cabinets with just a natural glaze on them, and painted the walls a light chocolate-milk kind of color. With dark oil rubbed bronze hardware and light fixtures, it looks great. The other color I was considering was a sage-ish green, but I wanted the colors to be more harmonizing than contrasting.

Benjamin Moore- paint color name is Barley. It's a soft warm yellow...i have my laundry room done in this color and it is by far my most favorite room in my house...colorwise

We just redid the kitchen 2 years ago. I have cherry cupboards and we painted the room an eggplant purple. I love it and it compliments the cabinetry very well.

We have dark cherry stained cabinets with a reddish tint, we painted the walls a coppery color, and we have a goldish color on another wall near it. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will...

I love the color blue. It is my favorite color and works wonderfully with cherry wood. My whole house is just about dark cherry - or dark woods. Kitchen cabinets and table dark cherry - although walls are not painted these colors it goes great with my dark blue (Longaberger dishes) also some yellow and red accents. Dining room dark wood is two shades of yellow with chair rail in white. Accent colors are burgundy it is a rich combination.

Our cherry bedroom set goes well with what I like to call Cinderella blue - same as castle. I have a huge picture of the building of the castle over my bed. Masterbath is Cinderella blue also and has cherry cabinets. I love my Cherry with all colors
