Decorating balcony for holiday

Are there any guidelines/restrictions regarding decorating a balcony for a holiday? I have seen people put lights up for Christmas. I would like to decorate for July 4th...

You may decorate the inside of your villa as long as your decorations are not visible from the outside and you don't use any tape or tacks to hang up your decorations.

Only on the inside of the villa, not on the outside. No decorations are supposed to be see from outside the villa.

I know they expressed that directive many years ago but is it really something they still try and prevent? Ie, is it written anywhere so that new members even knows they stated that way back when?

It isn’t I have scoured all documents for this information. The only thing I can find is that letter issued around Christmas time years ago (2011 I believe). While that letter did state it being in the POS I have never been able to find any language as strong as that language. The only thing I found is that DVC is in charge of the decor and no alterations to the decor can occur without their approval.

So myself as a new owner didn’t know of the rules and only knew of them from the boards (not saying I decorate just that no published document is readily available as you hinted at).

It makes me wonder if it's something they decided either can't be controlled or isn't worth the bother. Now the only place it comes from is the few of us that remember getting that letter. And since that time Disney has removed some of the outside decore at the resorts such as the large Mickey wreath at the CR (still miss that a lot!).

Two balconies here at BLT had lights that we noticed last night.

We didn’t actually decorate our balcony, but at CCV in May my son hung a pirate flag he purchased from Pirates of the Caribbean ride from our balcony. My husband asked a cast member if it was ok and they just shrugged their shoulders and said “sure”. I was a little concerned, but nothing was said about removing it. I don’t know if I would go all out with decorations tho.

We are at Disney every late October. We put a 5’ skeleton on the balcony relaxing in a chair. This year I am going to get him some Mickey Ears.

We like to stay at OKW on the canal when we go at Thanksgiving time because we like to decorate our balcony. I have even put in a request with Member services explains we would love a canal view because we like to see our decorations while on the boat traveling to and from Disney springs. (So far we have gotten it when requested). We started decorating after seeing other decorations. We have tried at GFV and PVB but they didn't have an outdoor outlet like OKW so we couldn't.

I would think Christmas decorations would apply here and not be allowed on the balcony. And any decorations on the inside should not mar the walls, furniture or anything else. Forget the scotch tape as it removes paint.

Interesting this is not in CCV or DRR Rules and Regulations, which is the Exhibit you refer to in BLT documents. In PVB the language softened a bit and was under a title of No Alteration. I am a bit surprised they have changed the body of the Rules and Regulations Exhibit, in fact CCV/DRR's is much shorter, in this manner. I would like to say this has meaning but who knows with DVC.
