Attention all Ballroom brides... (heh)

While going through my budget, I was trying to figure out how much I should allot to decorate the boardwalk ballroom. They're beautiful as is, but I really want to give it a personal touch....

How much did you/are you planning on spending on decorating the ballroom? I keep going back and forth between ADH/Boardwalk Ballroom because of this (and my pesky mother/FMIL's wishes for a sit-down dinner)

Thanks in Advance!

i loved my room. i did not do much though.
i had table decor, high centerpieces. bright colors. i had the cake table in one corner. also a kids table, dance floor andthe centerpeice from the pavilion on our head table on a riser.
the one thing i did do was i had the tulle caopy i have to say not what i imagined but it did adda bit of decor to the high celilings o and i had a table with pics through the years.

here are some pics (i figure it is easier to see)

Thank you soooo much! This helps me a lot. I was figuring close a lot more for decorations.... which would have put a dent in my budget, but I think I can keep it down now.

Btw, I LOVE how colorful your reception was. We're considering a turn-of-the-century boardwalk theme and your wedding is such an inspiration!

Thank you again! :goodvibes

I went to my friend's wedding at the Boardwalk and I have to say - she wowed me with her linens and tall centerpieces. I have no clue what she spent on the centerpieces but they were filled with roses and hydrangeas and some were high and some were low - and it was all gorgeous.

Here's my view from a guests perspective:

The LINENS actually made the room. Not so much the centerpieces. I think you can go with centerpieces that are smaller and less expensive if you splurge on your linens. She had champagne and light pink as her colors and used satin linens. I would go chair cover over the gold chivari chairs too because they added depth to the room.

I would add a personalized monogram light gobo to the dance floor.

I would also add the tulle canopy mentioned above.

I wouldn't waste money on the twinkling trees.

Add details to your cake and splurge for the 4 layers - even if you only need 3. It just adds a grand focal piece. Adorn the table with your bouquets.

4 votives per table is all you need - you don't want to overwhelm.

That's what I'd do to a Boardwalk Ballroom.

That said - I feel that ADH is a bit more unique. You can find a hotel ballroom in virtually any city. You're splurging on a Disney wedding - might as well do something unique.

I personally had a buffet and I have to say - I haven't regretted my decision. I've since been been a guest at two other Disney weddings. I hate to say that their food wasn't good - it was decent. But my buffet was delicious to the point that I had family members thanking me for "the best meal they've ever had at a wedding". The beef tenderloin was by far the favorite of the night. Everything was warm and we had two live action stations which added a little flair. And by the way - I agonized over the buffet until the wedding - thinking it would be cheesy! I was a former sit down dinner only kind of snob. I am so thrilled with the decision we made.

HTH!

Thank you soo much for your advice! ADH is by far, my #1 choice. The only reason I am currently swaying from it is I really want a sorbet course, and different brides are told different things about it's availaility at ADH. We're having a live band and ADH would be perfect for that. Once my mom/FMIL see it during our site visit, I think they'll sway towards it. In the end, if I can get an O.K on sorbet for 150 people, it's ADH here I come :)

btw, I LOVE your cake. It was beautiful!

The ballrooms are just an empty room so you really have to decorate it up with chair covers and centerpieces which can get pricey. We had ours at the ADH and didn't have to do much. CHeck out our trip report, there are lots of pictures. We had a DJ with was fantastic but a band would be perfect for the stage at ADH. We felt having it in a ballroom setting we could do the same up here in PA so we went with ADH because of the theme.
