I looked forward to the opportunity to be a part of the Disney College Program with great anticipation, hoping I would be doing something exciting and new to put on my resume, specifically to improve my skills as a performer. I applied on February 1st and had my phone interview the next day. I applied to the Fall Advantage Program with Entertainment, Attractions, and Character Attendant being the only roles I checked off of the list. I was under the impression that I did great in my phone interview. I discussed why I was qualified for the aforementioned roles, specifically talked about the great movie ride, and declined two other roles offered to me at the start of my interview. To my dismay I was reserved a QSF&B role. Am I really about to graduate from Tulane with honors to do THIS, a job that I have no interest in and will not serve me on my acting or professional resume? Should I decline? I'm not sure how this experience will serve me and feel I could be doing something more worth while. I decided not to go through with Teach for America for this? Really? I am attending Entertainment auditions and understand they are extremely competitive. Sorry for the ranting. I'm so upset. Two questions: Is there a possibility that over the seven months I am there I can move to a different position? (Totally off book for the great movie ride script) Could I perhaps reapply for the Fall instead of the Fall Advantage in hopes there are better positions open? Thank you very much! :)

Hi there! I worked ODF this past summer with a bunch of CPs, many of whom originally wanted entertainment, but weren't able to get it. From my knowledge, it's all about what you make of the experience. For instance, one friend of mine was the most animated cast member I've ever seen (outside of entertainment). It's also a great way to get your foot in the door at Disney, and you can try to extend your program to switch to something else, or look to go seasonal or full time. If Disney is the place you want to end up, you have to start somewhere.

If, however, you're looking for a job fresh out of college, something worth turning down Teach for America, you might want to look into something different. While fun and rewarding, QSFB can be hard and tiring, and might be a waste of your time if you're looking for something more related to your chosen career. It is, however, a tough job market out there.

Really, either way could work well for you, and you can still get entertainment...

I did QSFB my first program and had a blast. And can now travel the world for basically free due to having made friends literally all over the globe, I just got back from winter break in England matter of fact. Sometimes you can't take opportunities at face value. So you graduated from Tulane, maybe you'll meet the one person down there that changes your entire life or introduces you to the biggest chance at something you ever had. Don't look at it and just see QSFB.

I understand that you are "ranting", but think of it this way - about 50% of applicants are accepted, and of those 50% that aren't, I'd be willing to guess they'd to anything (including work QSFB) to be working for Disney. If you don't want to do it, PLEASE!!!, give someone who is on waiting list the opportunity to live their dream.

During the program there are LOTS of opportunities to audition for roles as well. face and non-face. I know there were 3 that I had heard about and I dodn't even have any interest. If they select you from those auditions then they will wait until your program is over (i believe) and extend you into that position for the spring. My friend made it to the final round and then was cut. She is an AMAZING dancer and as flexible as the chinese acrobats. That stuff is insanely competitive.

I emailed them yesterday to question my role because I believe you are the second person i've seen to have been in QSFB but really supposed to be in attractions. I got QSFB and am dreading it! I too almost couldn't decide to accept or decline the invite because I literally did not want this role. I was stupid to check it off, I was just trying my best to be open. I think now I'm even more anxious and want to know if it was a mistake or not so I'll call tomorrow instead of waiting on the email.

I hate to sound ungrateful, but I just found it cruelly ironic that the role I wanted least was the one I got.

Slightly jealous of your positive outcome, but still, CONGRATS! :goodvibes

That's really weird that they had you for the wrong role! I had something somewhat similar happen on my first CP. When I applied I was nervous about getting in so I added QSFB during my interview to improve my chances. Of course, what did I get? QSFB.

Well, I had already gotten myself all jazzed up for it and was determined to be the best darn QSFB person EVER and then exactly a month before my CP I got a call from disney and I thought it would be just a "hey! you check-in in a month! How are you doing?" kind of call. Well, they then told me that they had some spots come open for operations (now attractions) and saw I had that listed on my application and were wondering if I wanted to switch. I ended up deciding to switch. It was so weird though. I didn't STRESS attractions in my interview or anything, so I don't know why they picked me out. I know they picked some other people out like that too, but not everyone of course. :confused3 Oh well. Just strange. Makes me want to become a recruiter just so I can figure out the whole system! haha

Wow, that's so crazy that they called YOU up and asked if you wanted to switch. I don't want to take that chance so I guess I'll call and ask about my role today. I'm just really nervous about calling because I really don't want to sound ungrateful. No matter what, I'm really excited to be in the CP, but surely people call all the time and ask, right? :lmao:

Fantastic news! They entered the wrong code in my e-mail! I am in attractions! :cool1:

I may have this wrong but you haven't been to an entertainment audition yet have you? I ask because most are at the end of the semester and then they always accept/decline you for another role before the audition. If you haven't auditioned yet you could still be moved is you make it.
