Decline for Internship

Have been crying my eyes out for the past 2 hours.

I've been wanting this FOR YEARS and now i'm told i'm not accepted

I sent an email in asking what did i do wrong because i have years of work experience and volunteer awards & my friend who has nothing got in.

I also asked if there is any other position i didn't ask for avilable that i can do.


Has anyone ever done this & gotten an email back saying there are other positions they can apply for?

This is so embarassing - my self esteem is so low & i can't imagine telling my friends & family i didnt get accepted

It was the regular.

Even worse is that they keep playing disney commericals in every channel. I'm so depressed.

Still hoping for them to contact me telling me I can apply for another position.

Aww I'm sorry. Definitely try applying again next time if you can. I know it sucks. I got rejected for Spring 11 and couldn't understand why either since I have experience especially with being around kids and tourist and stuff since worked at a local aquarium. But I just tried for Fall 2011 and got in this week which didnt think would happen so don't give up! Good luck whatever you do.

It's true that I always have next year but this was suppose to be THE year ya know? Everything amazing in my life is happening this year so that would've been the cherry on top.

Still trying to be positive & telling myself 'everything happens for a reason' but it still hurts to know what you wanted the most in your life wasn't given to you.

I'm sorry.. I bawled when I got my pending letter today I can't imagine the rejection letter. It will work out. That's what I keep getting told at least..

im sorry to hear that. i know too what it feels to really want something and be rejected. The biggest thing is getting back at it. Try everything you can to get the overturned. Like you said, look at different positions.

There is always next semester too. i know this semester would have been the best, but next semester is ok. A company like this wants to see that you are committed to get accepted

Out of curiosity, what/how many roles did you apply for? That can sometimes tell you a lot.

I was "rejected" for Fall 09. I really hate using that term but that is the only term that I know that fits. I remember feeling exactly like you do. Reading your post brought it all back for me. I also couldn't understand why I didn't get in and thought that Fall 09 would be the best semester. I applied again for Spring 10 and was accepted. I'm sure I would have had a great time if I had gone down to Orlando that fall but I honestly can't imagine my program without the people who I met when I was there. I was just meant to go for the Spring 10 program.

I know how horrible you are feeling right now, but don't get down on yourself. For whatever reason you just weren't meant to go this Fall. Perhaps you are meant to meet some amazing person (or people) in a different season. The horrible icky depressed feeling will eventually go away. And your friends and family will understand. Who knows why Disney didn't accept you for this season, but don't let that get you down. If you decide its still something you want, apply again with confidence. Whatever you decide to do, good luck! I'm sure it will work out in the end.

My thoughts are totally going out to you. Just hope that something good will come of this. Every time I have ever been rejected for something (USC, first time I applied to Disney CP, etc) I've wound up being incredibly grateful for it. What's hurting now is your upset expectations, don't think it means anything about you, your future, etc. Rejections mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, except that they often open you to other experiences you've never considered.

If you'd still like to talk to Disney Recruiting, I'd suggest waiting until you've really calmed down then giving them a call. I've heard of people asking for advice on what they can do next time they apply to stand a better chance of being hired.

I'm trying to think positive but like i said before, it really hurts.

I was actually suppose to go up with my friend for fall & she called to tell me she got accepted the other day (we did our interview the same day too) so I hate to tell her I got declined since we both wanted to know someone while we were up there.

My phone interview was on January 28 at around 4pm.

I applied for about 6-7 roles out of the checklist.

Bascially i said everything they wanted to hear & they told me that it wasn't just one question i answered wrong but the "entire" interview.

Thing that is getting me through is that i feel i was over qualified for this & that i have better things coming my way.

That's odd normally they will point out one or 2 things you said wrong and let you know about it. But I guess everything happens for a reason! Are you going to try again? I don't think you should stop over one bad experience!

I bolded the above because I wonder if one of those two things, that you were just telling them what they wanted to hear or that you felt you were above the position came across in the interview?

Maybe it seemed like you were just saying what you knew they wanted to hear from you and not being yourself?? Disney is looking for people who are naturally a "cast member" maybe the way you responded to things was impersonal.. When I interviewed for my current position the recruiter told me that she really liked that I genuinely loved Disney and was very open about my stregnths and weaknesses..
