Declaring Donations

I attempted to look into this on the IRS website. It's like finding a needle in a haystack! Hopefully someone will know here. If you have a source, that would be great too. :)

Does it matter for tax purposes if a declared donation is not in your "home" state? The address on the form has a different state than the one in which the taxes will be filed.

If you are looking to deduct it from your Federal Taxes (since you are looking at the IRS website) i don't see that it would matter. I donate money to various charities throughout the year (Cancer Society, United Way, etc.) and it's never mattered and they weren't necessarily located in the state in which I lived.
 
It doesn't matter where in the US the charity is; they just have to be recognized as a 501c3 by the IRS.
 
It doesn't matter, but for tracking purposes, I keep my donations saved at itsdeductible.com.

I just log it in, drop my donation receipt in that year's tax envelope and then forget about it!
