can anybody comment on category 9 and 10 staterooms on deck one? appreciate negative and positive comments please. thanks!

We were on the 8/28/04 Magic and had 2 Cat. 10 rooms, 1065 and 1079.

There was no hallway traffic or noise. Very convenient to exit/entrance for excursions. Laundry room was short walking distance on Deck 2 and a short walk to dining/shows on Decks 3 and 4.

Because you can only get to Deck 1 by midship, there was some walking involved.

We have been on two prior Disney cruises and had rooms on Decks 6 and 7. The only difference was in terms of noise inside the rooms. Both Deck 1 rooms had a periodic humming/vibrating sound which only lasted a few seconds. However, it in no way interferred with our sleeping or use of rooms, and we would gladly stay on Deck 1 again. Another benefit of Deck 1 is movement. We had rough seas one day, and movement was less noticeable on Deck 1.

I hope this helps you......

4lodgelovers: thanks for the quick reply. definitely helpful. for our previous cruises we have only been on deck 5 forward both times- we found this area really convenient to the oceaneer clubs, walt disney theater/preludes/treasure ketch, buena vista theater and the bars on deck 3 forward. i was trying to book our next cruise and the only available rooms were on deck one. noticing that the staterooms on deck one only occupied part of the entire floor, i had asked the disney rep what was on deck 1 other than the staterooms and the medical clinic. all she could tell me was "walls". by the way, where are the laundry rooms on deck 2 (aft?midship?forward?). thanks again.

Deck 1 category 9 staterooms have two small (12 inch diameter) portholes instead of the HUGE (3 foot diameter) portholes in cat. 9's on deck 2. Personally, I would never book a cat. 9 on deck 1. You're paying the same price, but getting an inferior view.

The laundry room on deck 2 is between midship and aft on the port side across from stateroom 2096. It's closer to the aft elevators.
