:wave2: Hi all,

I'm taking my 12 yr old niece with me to Disneyworld in September. I know if I let her set the pace of this holiday she would spent all 14 days in and around the hotel pool. So I came up with a little plan - Yestheday I gave her a piece of paper and a pen, and told her to write out her 14 day holiday plan. As I thought 14 days of swimming, eating, sleeping.

So I've phoned her this morning, and said that she will have to do the plan again but she will need to include, Seaworld, Magic kingdom, mini golf, the cinema, and shopping.

What do you guys think? What do you do when your travelling with kids? Do you go along with what they mainly want to do - or decide between you what you'll be doing while your at Disney.

I don't want to spoil her holiday, but i also don't want to be glued to the hotel pool for 14 days.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks Maureen4200040

I think as soon as she sees the other possibilities, it won't be too much of a problem to get her away from the pool! I'd just re-assure her that she could have a dip in the pool at the end of the day if it was a really big issue.

When we're on holiday, we're ALL on holiday so we sit down and ask what everyone wants to do, and then lay down a plan - sometimes there's negotiation and sometimes there's comprimise, but then at least everyone feels like they've had their say.

I have always planned our holiday and would not let the kids decide on what we are doing. Orlando is a trip of a lifetime holiday and needs careful planning.

It is good she enjoys swimming but she can do that over here, it isn't anything different other than costing an awful lot more money to do over there.

I presume you have a lot more experience of holidaying in Orlando so I would suggest you make a plan up and include the parks, rest days for shopping, mini golf, swimming and the cinema. Your niece needs to be introduced to the delights of Orlando and you are just the person to do it. You will also discover the joy of watching someone experience Orlando for the first time which is quite magical.

Has she seen a copy of the WDW planning DVD? That might spark off some ideas for her :)

My girls have a say in what we do when we get to the parks, but in general me & DH choose what we do every day and when we get there they can then take us to whichever ride / land they want. We too might spend weeks in the hotel pool otherwise ;)
