Our last minute fall trip has been rescheduled for the week before Christmas, and once again we have to choose a resort. Seems like this gets harder each time we visit! Priority is riding GOG and soaking up some Christmas at Disney. Plan to visit EP 2 days; HS 1 day; MK 1 day. We will have a rental car, but will not have PH. We have stayed at POFQ the last several times we have visited, and we do like it, but we are looking for something different. Poly is our fave but not in the budget at this time. Having a hard time justifying the Deluxe prices lately...

Our choices are:
  1. CSR - Standard View
  2. CSR GDT (Standard View) - ~$500 more
  3. Dolphin - about the same price as Standard View at CSR - but GREAT location and access to EH - can upgrade to Resort View for ~$300 (less than GDT)
  4. YC - ~$1700 more than CSR Standard - not sure if it's worth more than double the price...

My pick is CSR. Reasons:

1. Save money.
2. You have a rental car. You can quickly drive to DHS and Epcot or visit another highly Christmas-themed resort if you have dining reservations.
3. Bus transportation to MK. I like the resort bus drops you at the MK entrance rather than dealing with the extra step of TTC if you stay at Dolphin.
4. I wouldn't have the time to enjoy Stormalong Bay at YC since it's such a short visit.

Because of your schedule, I would go with the Dolphin for sure! And honestly might even consider upgrading to a resort view, because its truly stunning esp during holidays!

My question would be how much time you plan on spending at the hotel verse the park? Are you going to be there all day?
For my family that's where the deal breaker comes on where we're going to stay.....

I dont think the YC warrants the price, although were staying at the BC next month with other family members.... My choice would either be the Dolphin or the CSR - Standard View.

With three of your 4 park days focused on epcot area resorts, I'd pick Dolphin even if you spend a bit more time at the resorts. I've never stayed at S/D over the holidays and while I'm sure they have some decor up, it's likely not the level of CSR or YC.

You may already be aware of this about the Dolphin but-
  1. Do be sure to factor in your parking and resort fees for Dolphin, those are not in the nightly rate.
  2. The beds at dolphin are not queens, they're full/double beds. It's never a big deal for me and my husband but could be a deal killer for others.
  3. keep in mind if you do bus to MK, you will be dropped/picked up at TTC since Dolphin buses are not disney owned. It's not a big deal and if you drive, it's a moot point. Sometimes we grab a BW/YC/BC bus back or to MK, just depends if we'd rather walk at the boardwalk or walk at TTC.
The location at Dolphin can't be beat and being able to walk/boat to two parks or take a quick stroll over to the boardwalk is awesome.
