Ok, we are trying to plan something a bit different for the next Spring's vacation. We have done a 4 day Wonder, and 2 7 day Westerns on the Magic (and numerous other cruise lines), but have never done the parks. So....we are trying to figure out if we should:
A. do a 4 day land and a 4 day sea vacation: I can't stand to go to Orlando and not get on a Disney ship! :)

B. do a 7 day Eastern cruise.

We need to do the 4 day land because we live in the Rocky Mtn states and it would take nearly all day to just get there. So of course that adds to the cost. I should mention that i am attempting to work this around my 15 year old's school schedule too!

My questions to all of you...kind of a poll:

1. Would you prefer the 7 day cruise Eastern (for a great price...thank you Sue Ellen!)

2. 4 days in the parks with a Wonder cruise?

3. Is the weather ok to cruise in the Eastern during mid-April?

4. How's the weather in the parks during April?

My quandry here is: DS and I would love the 7 day cruise, but dh is leaning towards the 4/4. Do I go with the majority, or try something different?

I know, it probably sounds like a no brainer here, but I am trying to please everyone...HA!

Thanks all!
Lisa

You have NEVER done the parks???oh my I say 4/4! The parks should be experienced!

I would pick the 7 day eastern, however, if you have never done the parks, then you should do the 4/4. The cruise is great, but the parks are "magical". Everytime we go, I fell like a little girl as we walk down main street USA. There are PLENTY of things for older kids to do. My personnal favorite park is MGM.

If you do the 7 day through disney with an extra day at parks they make you "do the parks" part first.

If you just book the 4 day cruise and then book parks reservations on your own you could probably save money with discount codes/php's and such and have the option of doing parks after your 4day wonder.

We did the land/sea through disney 2x and it always was depressing to go home the day after castaway and I was always so tired from the parks that my feet/everything hurt the whole cruise.

I say just the opposite of the previous poster - do the parks FIRST & get all of the 'work' (walking miles each day) out of the way & then relax on the ship. :D

If you've never done the parks, then I definitely vote for the 4/4. The weather is very nice in April, but if you plan on going during a holiday break, the crowds can be horrendous. It can be the difference between waiting 15 min. in line & 1 to 1-1/2 hr. in line.

I think going to the parks - especially at your son's age - just adds to the 'magical' feeling that you get & makes the cruise that much more of a 'Wonderful' experience.

We loved the eastern cruise in January, and it was warm enough to swim (after the first day, which was a little chilly) so I would assume that the eastern would be great in April.

However, if you've never been to WDW and have sailed as often as you have, I would definitely recommend going to the parks

Thank you everyone! I think what we have decided is this: 3 days prior in the parks and a seven day Eastern. I think I managed to work it around Ds's prom, banquets, end of term stuff, etc. :) Now I just have to worry about hubby's travel schedule! I think I am the only one flexible here. :)

Just another plug for Sue Ellen at Dreams...she has been wonderful helping me figure all this out! (this is not a paid endorsement...although an upgrade might be nice....LOL) :)

I am glad you are going to do the parks!!! I think I speak for most everyone in saying, we are very confident spending money with DCL after our "Magical" times spent at the parks.
