I KNEW you were having fun. That's why it would be really fun to tell him that the dog ate it, since you don't even have a dog. You could tell him that my dog ate it. Her name is Annie, my standard poodle. My toy poodle couldn't have eaten it, she doesn't have many teeth left.

I would take a different tactic if it were my DH, especially if some time had passed since he last asked about it. When he mentioned it next I would say, "remember, I told you that I shrunk it years ago". He'd start questioning his memory and forget all about the sweatshirt.

Hmmm, don't think that will work? I would tell him before Spain just in case he gets mad. I like the margarita idea, and don't forget some, uh, hanky-panky might be required to get back on his good side.

I voted don't tell! I don't tell, but dh has figured out if I don't like a piece of his clothing and he suddenly can't find it anymore, I gave it away/threw it away! Yup! Heehee! But it's always the old stuff with holes!
