Deciding on hotel for July 2010

We are planning a Disneyland vacation July 14-22. My daughter's 12th birthday is during that time so we want it to be special. My other daughter's will be 10 (yep, 2 of them). So there are 5 of us. We have been to Disneyland 2 other times and stayed at the Paradise Pier and we really liked it, but the girls want a nicer pool this time so we are deciding between the DLH and GC.

We will be spending 3 days at DL and CA and going to Universal Studios and the beach also. We will spend 2 days not going anywhere and swimming and visiting Downtown Disney (so relaxing).

We were going to stay at the DLH, but now I am hearing that there is a lot of renovations going on. Also, the size of the room at PP was perfect. Are the rooms at GC and DLH smaller?

Does anyone know when the renovations will be done? Also, the last time we were there, CA was going thru a major overhaul. Does anyone know if it is done?

So, hotel pools, quiet at night, cleanliness and closeness to the parks are really important.

I know everyone has different ideas and these things have been discussed to death, but I am floundering. I am also hoping to see some recent pictures of standard rooms at DLH and GC.

Of the 3 DLR hotels DLH is my fave followed by PP then GCH ~ however I prefer to stay offsite.

The DLH is also my favorite. I haven't stayed at the PP, but we have stayed at the GC, and IMO DLH was way better. It is further from the park sbut it didn't feel that far to me. I loved the whole atmosphere.
I was told by a CM that DLH's standard rooms are the largest out of the three hotels. I hope that helps.
