Well, we decided to not have an ADR on arrival day. After driving to Disney for 12 plus hrs., we just didn't want the stress of having to be somwhere at a particular time. We had ADR's at Boma, but decided instead on just doing pizza at Mara, which I hear is pretty tasty. That way we can check in, relax around the resort, explore, swim and just de-stress. We'll schedule Boma for another day of our vacation. I think this plan works out better for us:thumbsup2

Not a bad idea at all. DH and I did that last trip, and it was definitely less stressful that first evening.

We've never done an ADR for arrival day - we do exactly what you're planning. However, this trip we get in earlier than normal, and I've made an ADR at Sci Fi. I'm already stressing slightly! LOL!

I think you'll be very happy - we love the Mara!

I think you're making a good move. Why stress out any more than you have to on arrival day, a day where you have lots of uncertainties, i.e., traffic, weather, car issues.

We stopped making an set plans on arrival day after our first-day fiasco last September. Arrival day was Saturday. Wake up, be on the road by 7:00 a.m., (we're two hours away by car), hit MGM, lunch ADR at '50s PTC, check into off site timeshare at or closely after 4:00 p.m., unpack, shower, rush over to Citywalk for dinner and hit the Blue Man Group for the 7:30 show.

Everything that could have gone wrong, DID. And the BMG tix were nonrefundable. We made it, thankfully, but without dinner and without showers (after a day at the parks in Sept heat!).

We're vets, too. Go to Orlando anywhere from four to a dozen times a year. But I no longer obligate us for anything on arrival day -- other than check in ;)

Have fun!

We have an ADR for 1900 Park Faire for our arrival day. I am hoping with all my heart that American airlines doesn't mess up and gets us there when we are suppose to arrive. This way we will have plenty of time to get to our ADR. Crossing my fingers.

We do that too..if we arrive mid afternoon we head to DTD and go to WPE...less hectic than trying to get to your ADR

Great idea we are doing the exact same thing in hopes T-Rex will be open by then!!!
