Well, we've finally decided on a cat 5 for our Nov '04 Eastern. However, I'm not sure what to consider when choosing cabin location.

What are the pros and cons of forward vs. aft and port vs. starboard?? I have no clue.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks,
Gailyn:D

starboard - better views of CC (if ship backs in, which it usually does)

aft- more stable, less motion....close to deck 7 aft verandah area, great for picture taking...

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm having such a good time planning this trip. I can't imagine how much fun I'll have when we actually leave!!

That was the area I was looking at but I thought I read that area is subject to alot of loud noise from the ship's equipment??? It was in a trip report I just read. The person indicated that they would wake up very early due to loud "equipment" type noises.

Did you stay in that area and notice that?

Also, I noticed that you have done the 7 day Eastern multiple times. Did you like it better than the Western or did the dates just work out that way?

We are booking the Eastern because of the week we need to travel.

we had 7608 on last cruise.....perfect location....I like to be near aft elevators for convenience....believe me, this is not a noisy location....quiet as can be....

we've done 2 Easterns and a Western....liked the extra day at sea on Eastern, but liked the ports better on western....especially Coz and Key West!!!! Both had excellent shopping, which we like to do instead of excursions.....

I think you'll be very happy with the Eastern....also, November is a great time to cruise....slightly cooler weather overall, and value pricing (except for Thanksgiving)

We much prefer Aft. It seems to be VERY quiet, and the buffet is above you. When you need to get to the buffet, if you take the Aft elevators or the stairs, you will be right there. It was convenient for a quick run up for coffee or to appease a "starving" kid in the morning! It's also less travelled since most activity if forward. But, it's not a long walk anywhere. Also, I agree on Starboard for the Castaway Cay views, again, if they back in which seems to be the case more often. Keep in mind that every location has it's benefit. You're on the ship and will probably love it wherever you end up!!

Have fun...
