Decided not to do Fantasmic...

Since we decided to skip Fantasmic on this trip, should I try to rearrange my park days to be at DHS on a day when it isn't showing? Are F! days significantly more crowded now that the showings have been reduced? It is showing all but two nights for our dates according to the hours the DIS has posted, so I'm just not sure if it is worth swapping days around to avoid.

Never have been to it. We avoided HS on Fantasmic days when there in Jan b/c we didn't want to deal w/ the crowds. Now that Disney is cutting back on some of the shows/parades we figured when they were going on the parks would be pretty full those days-so we avoided them.

Okay, in looking over my trip I came across something I hadn't noticed before... Memorial Day weekend is the first Star Wars Weekend at DHS. So now I'm back to the drawing board as far as guessing at crowd levels... Saturday of SWW or Tuesday with a Fantasmic showing?

Maybe it is time to run out and get the new UG from the library to help with the planning! LOL

We'll be at HS on a day that they've now added a 2nd Fantasmic show (Thurs March 19th).
We had planned to stay till we finished rides, hoping to leave before the 3pm parade, but that isnt too important.
The question now is... would we be better off leaving after lunch and coming back in the evening for the rides while everyone else is in Fantasmic?

Changing our entire plan around just isnt feasible at this point, and we dont have hoppers.
Your thoughts?

The major problem is that not "everyone" will be in Fantasmic!

The Fantasmic! theater can only hold less than 8,000 guests.

But on a day in January '08 (last month) when we were there...
DHS had over 20,000 guests in the park! (I asked a reliable CM we all know from this board ;) )

It was a ZOO trying to get into Fantasmic! and all of the popular attractions
were JAMMED, too.

Will that happen when you are there?

With the new limited schedule of Fantasmic! days... it MIGHT.

Hope you find less problems!

I may be really far behind on the boat on this one...

but I heard (from a performer currently being trained in the show) that Fant is moving to 4/5 days in April/Mayish and should be back to the full 7 days this summer.

Thought you guys would be interested.

It is showing 5 days out of the 8 we'll be at the World over the Memorial Day holiday and two of the days it isn't showing are the first two days of Star Wars weekend. The other is our arrival day. That's why I'm having such a hard time avoiding it in planning my DHS day.

Ok, sorry, I have a super dumb question. Where are you guys finding the Fantasmic schedule? I can't find it on the Disney website. Thanks!

The calendar on the DIS site has it in a much easier format than the Disney site. On Disney's calendar, you have to click on each day to see if it is showing that day, and the calendar and website have been rather unreliable of late - sometimes I can't connect, sometimes nothing shows up, etc. Using the DIS calendar is much easier! http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm

We are going this year and want to watch Fantasmic, anyone knows the schedules? Can anyone help me?

Thanks for any reply. Have a nice day everyone. :)

Just my opinion, but if it's showing that often while you're there, I wouldn't necessarily worry about avoiding those days.

I'm going to try to avoid it, we saw it in 2008 and we're ok to skip it for a few more years. Good thing for park hoppers, but I will not be there during the day for an EMH or a F! night if I can help it. No thank you.

Thanks. That's my plan right now... It seems like it makes more sense to avoid Star Wars Weekends, from what I've read on the DIS and Allears (seriously, people get there before dawn?!?). Since we're going over a holiday and closer to summer than we've ever gone before, I'm not expecting uncrowded. I'm just shooting for less crowded compared to the other days on the trip!

I just called Disney Reservations to check on the dinner package for Fantasmic and currently F! is only being shown on May the 24th and 28th (Memorial Day is the 25th). I know someone mentioned that they may add more show times but do we know when or how to find out? Thanks!

Hmmm... The DIS calendar has it showing on the 26th, as does Disney's own calendar. I doubt we'll really know for sure until a week or two before we travel, based on the way Feb & March seem to be going, but right now I'm trusting the calendars over CMs... I've gotten too much iffy and contradictory info from CMs so I've learned to look for a more reliable source.

For my dates, the calendar shows it on the 20th, 21st, 24th, 26th, so 4 nights out of 8, not 5, but still not bad. It is Spectro that's showing 5 nights while we're there. Not as good as running every night, but not so bad that I'm going to complain about cutbacks either. :goodvibes

Yes, more dates have been added now! I was able to get the May 26th dinner package. Any ideas on how to pass the time after dinner before Fantasmic starts? How far in advance do you want to get to the "reserved" area for good seats?:wizard:

It is only showing twice during my 10 day trip (May 6-15). I am definitely avoiding DHS on those days. Fantasmic is my favorite nighttime show...I am really saddened by the new schedule.
